Hi!
I'm have been thinking of buying this Audix M1244A microphone, or acutally 2 Audix M1244A. But Do anyone know anything about this microphone?
Is it recommend for drums? And if yes, which parts of the drums; tam, H-H, snare, OH?

I hope someone can help me!

Many regards Malthe!

Ok first of all, there's no set list of mics you have to use for a certain piece of your drumkit. Generally, people use condensors for OHs, condensor/dynamic for snare, and dynamic for kick and tOms. But even that isn't absolute.
Anyway, I haven't heard of it, but after a quick search it looks like it's a small diaphragm condensor. You could use something like this as an OH mic (a pair). What exactly do you need it for?

First of all, thank you for answering!
In my mind I would like to use them (I'm going to buy a pair) as OH.
Year they are pretty small 5 cm long and 1,2 cm wide....

Yep, it's a sdc! I'd use it for overheads or hi-hat.

They're handy for several other instruments as well ;)

IMO the money that you are to spend on these audix SDC for over head drum micing you may consider purchasing a pair of ribbon microphones, Fatheads or what ever brand you choose, you will be amazed at the finished product difference in capturing the drums.
Audix microphones always seem brittle and harsh to me and so taking that into consideration with the cymbals the ribbon microphone configuration as over heads would be a much improved alternative. YMMV

Allright. So you, guitaristic, would say that I'd should go for them? and you, moresound, says that I'd not should?

Well to each their own. Guess it's just trial an error for there isn't a right way or wrong way of doing over heads it just comes down to your own personal taste with the artist that your working with at the time.

It's to bad you can't do an A/B test before you purchase.

Yea... But I'm going to buy them used... So it's not so expensive!
I'm going to buy them, and see what happens...

I'm not saying you should buy them (as I've never had any experience with those)...I'm just saying that if I somehow acquired one or a pair that's what I would try them on! :D So no, I'm not saying you should buy them, but I'm not saying you shouldn't either... make sense? ;)

In my experience, my best advice is to do whatever Henry (moresound) suggests!

I'm sure that they will work for you and maybe in the future you can try out a pair of ribbons and hear the difference. A ribbon also sound great on guitar cabinets and other sources.

Malthe ..... When you do get the audix pair and have tried them out give me a shout and let me know if you think they sound a bit harsh or not.

Thank you for all you're answers!
I will tell you what I think about them when I get them! :)
