I need to buy an audio card and I am REALLY confused about what to get, so any help/suggestions on anything would be great.
First off what is on board sample ram?
I have a keyboard with midi capabilities, so can I get a sound card that will be full duplex (play while recording) and also play
the sounds that am producing with my keyboard -basically using
the computer as a sampler (since the keyboard is just a controller), and recording it while playing back other tracks.
Is that what on board sample ram is used for?
Maybe using the sound card as a sampler?
I want a sound card that is good quality but maybe under $450.00 - Well around there, definitely not $650.00 I live in canada(and I think that speaks for its self).
Also I want to use it for recording audio which means I will need a 1/4" (balanced?) line in for my mixer.I think thats right,I don't know what goes were on a sound card. But with an adapter you might lose quality?
What about channels, most sound cards have a min of 2 right?
So if a sound card has 2 channels does that mean it has two inputs for mics?Im only recording one track at a time so
what do need? Wait that doesnt make any sense because I am using a mixer? AHH HELP!
I truly appreciate any help.
Thanx!
