I noticed the AT 4060 seems to have dropped in price a wee bit in the uk, are these a good sounding mic for female vocals running into JLM 99 pre's? I know its a difficult question. Have many people used this mic? I did a search in other threads but there doesn't seem much info, thanks.

I have used it on female vocals and it worked very well.I don't know the JLM99 preamps..I have used it with a Vipre, GreatRiver NV, OSA's and various others and found it to do pretty well..this is with a vocalist who is slightly like a Kate Bush type of range..Its pretty flat up top and there is a upper mid bump in this mic to my ears..Good luck :)

Ok
That might suit the application it was a choice to go with something like the ADK Vienna or push the boat out and go more up market.
Thanks Henri.

The 4060 has been great on everything I have used it on including Female vox. I worked on a record overseas with a male singer with a female register and used the 4060 for lead vox and it was nominated for that countries equivelant of a grammy for best engineering. 4060 is one of my favorite mics at any price.

The 4060 is a perfectly good main vocal mic. It's the best tube mic I've heard < $2000 U.S. The Lawson tends to blow it away, but it should, it's a $2000 mic.- Richie

Thanks.
The Lawson mics certainly look a quality product, we still have to pay around 1400 us for a 4060 here in the uk so the Lawson may still be in reach if i save a wee bit longer, not sure if the rest of my gear would be up to that mic but we try to keep improving the signal chain and the room.
Thanks for your help.
