I have a Tascam 488MKII

I will be getting an effects unit (Zoom RFX1000/2000)

How then, do i hook it up it to my tascam? Plenty of holes in it including effects sends etc... what leads do i need and where do i stick 'em?

I want to record all my tracks dry and then add reverb to some select tracks (prob vocal tracks) at mixdown...

Anyone?
 
If you click the back button on you browser a couple times, then scroll down a bit, you will see a Forum called "Tascam".

They might have a few more detailed answers for you.;)
 
Or just hook up the inputs on the FX to the Aux send and connect the outputs to the Effects Return.
 
I'l think il do it Texroadkill's way! thanx! by the way, does it matter if i plug into the effects units digital or the analoge inputs? Whats the difference?
 
Unless your Tascam also has digital i/o you should probably stick to analog. Digital inputs only work if you are sending a digital signal.

i dont got no aux outputs...
On the plus side i do have...

effects sends (X2)
Line outs
monitor outs
A cue output (1 X 1/4" jack)
and some sub ins and stereo ins.

Help... again?

havent got effects returns... just sends.
Is an effects send the same as a return? ie: can it do the same job???
 
Use the effects send to the input on the FX. Then take the output of the effects and bring it back in anywhere you have room. It can be the stereo inputs or some spare channels.
 
Oh that's bullshit. I used to use a Tascam 488 (the MKI version), and that thing had effects return inputs.
 
Do you want to come round my house and cout the holes?? Its easy. They even have little bits of writing next to them so as not to confuse you.

Channels 9-12 are for effects return. There are, in fact, specifically designed for effects return. You can, however, use them for other things.

I'd love to come over to your house, and if it will make you feel better, I'll write effects return over channels 9-12, but I will charge you $250.

you see where im going with this?

You could have told me that at the start.
Manual... pah.

So can i control the effects going into chans 9 - 10 with the effects 1 + 2 nobs?
 
I would say... if you can spare the tracks, go:

effects send 1 - effects unit - channel 9 (left return, panned left) & channel 10 (right effects return, panned right)

If you can't spare the tracks then you can just run a mono out from the effects to channel 9 only and center it.
