I've heard a lot of positive things about these montiors, and just wanted to know what you guys think of them. I really need to upgrade from my computer speakers and these are pretty cheap ;)

I think the Art SLM1 passive monitors are actually re-badged
yorkville YSMi. If this is the case, then yeah, i would not be surprised that your hearing good things about the ART monitors because the yorkville passives sound pretty nice... very similar to the YSM1p. Here in Canada, Long and McQuades is one of the major equipment/instrument supply stores - and you can walk in and see and try both the ART and yorkville stuff...many of their products literally look and sound the same...minus the label and packaging. There is an association between the companies...im not exactly sure if its only distribution or otherwise...

Try em out...they also pair well with the SLA-1 monitor amp (same deal...made by ART but distributed by yorkville or vise versa).

oh yeah, forgot to add...

the YSM1i are nothing but the YSM1 monitors (older yorkville monitors) with a new plastic faceplate. I tried them both out before getting my YSM1's for less money. You might look around for those as well...good monitors at a very low price point.

I have the ARTs. And can cnfirm that they are the same as the Yorkvilles.
