Chris,
That's bliss (ful).
I semi recognised a bundle of phrases in it.
Nice recording. An early digital using what may I ask?

Thanks Rayc. Yep, this was my first ever recording in digital.

I'm using a Taylor 710, with two MXL 67's into a M-Audio Delta 66 Omni. I was using a really nice old cassette recorder that a friend had, but after joining this site, I figured it was about time for upgrade my equipment. The suggestions here helped me choose the equipment.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I just now got a chance to listen to all these songs, and I have to say that they're all pretty good all things considered. It just goes to show how far playing ability actually matters in recording. Good playing on so-so recording equipment is still listenable. Bad playing in a pro-studio still sounds like shit. Props to everyone for posting this stuff. I enjoyed it. :)

I put this thing up when I first joined here. But since it's a first recording in the digital realm... It's not much. Just an acoustic guitar instrumental.

What you mean, "It's not much"?

Are you kidding? It's awesome!

You got great technique and style, Chris.

The only complaint I have is that you didn't allow for downloading.....hint!

Thanks for posting!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I feel bad sometimes about not allowing downloads of my music at SC. But I had one of my songs downloaded and made a beat out of by another SC member without my permission. Ever since then I've been kind of leery about allowing downloads.

Umm.... Don't tell anybody but there are a couple of songs at download.com. :D

Here’s the first tune I ever recorded to a digital format, and I didn’t screw with it after the fact.
i really dig this tune--great guitar tones and the drums are quite nice sounding. are they "real"? :D

cheers,

Sorry. I had to take down my 30 year old cassette recording.
Too far back & too ...well it is what it is & what it was intended to be but that was then...sort of thing.

They're about as real as you can get out of a Boss DR660. :D :D :D

I did record a real drummer 3 or 4 years ago.

BeatMeister is a member here at HR, although he hasn't been around much here on the boards.

Years ago, we used to do some open mic blues nights together. He's one helluva drummer.

I think you'd be surprised to find out what mics I used to record his

LOL, i figured as much. they're well "played", though. i've found that when dealing with "fake" drums, it's the playing that really needs to shine in order for them to not sound canned. good job! :D

(i'll check out that drum solo here in a bit)

cheers,
wade

Dan,
You captured your vocals really well. A terrific - piece 1st digi or not.
