i been wanting to write a song lately and well, i'm more of a guitarist but i really enjoy TRYING to write and i have wrote a couple good songs...but i was reading a post on here about songwriting and someone had something about "Loneliness" and some words popped into my head and i grabbed my guitar and wrote them out but need some experience or imagination to finish it out...
I normally play tradition country music to give u an idea of my style..i wrote in some chords that i had in mine as i was playing it...yall might have a different idea thats better...just something to play around with...

if it sucks, we'll can it...if not, its something to do...i just thought i'd throw it at ya.

D..................D7.............................G...-->D-->G

D...........D7.....................G

I dunno, hard task, but I thought I'd help you out.

Did ya like 'so low'? Like 'solo'...'lonely'...get it!

LOL, Monkey Allen....that is GREAT!!!! i laughed so hard i couldnt play it for a minute when i read it...i LOVE it....so we got 2 verses of the song now...

you've put a whole new perspective on this song for me...put a little humor in it LOL..

must be an Allen thing? lol

Kevin Allen

Yeah, I noticed you had the Allen in your name after I posted. Pretty cool lol.

So, 2 verses...let's try for a chorus or something. Or another verse...

I can't sing for shit...but I was gonna sing your verse to your chords and upload it to soundclick. I'd love to compare the melodies we have for those chords! Are you in?

...

Monkey Allen,
go for it...let me know where its posted at on soundclick so i can hear it...

Monkey Allen,
i LOVE IT!!!...its similar to what i had in mind but i like ur version better...mine was more a traditional country sound, BUT, urs has that old rock type sound of the 50's and 60's that i LOVE...i love that style of music, listen to it anytime i can...

its got that old country/rockish feel and sound that i LOVE...u perfected it in my mind...i cant wait to get this thing finished now to hear the entire thing recorded lol...

Monkey u done great...i thought u said u couldn't sing? u have a GREAT voice for this song...i love how ur voice fits it like a glove...

lets keep goin on it......i'll see what i can get for more verses till we finish it...

i love it....Kevin Allen

Thanks for the kind words! I guess I have recorded a lot worse singing than that!

I'm up for more verses and a crack at a chorus and all that. We should work out a structure...how you want it to go...ie. Intro Verse Verse Chorus Break Chorus Verse Outro.......or whatever.

I'm really keen to hear your recording

G..........G7................C
Lonely - here i am now lonely
D..................D7.............................G...-->D-->G
thinking about the way you have done me
G........G7....................C.............Am
sorry - why should i say i'm sorry - to you
D...................D7.................G
when you know i aint done no wrong

G...........G7.......................C
So low - why should I feel so low
D.........................D7.......................G
For whatever crimes you put down as mine
G............G7................C..................Am

D...........D7.....................G

Chorus
I-I-I-I.....am-m-m .....a criminal of love
I-I-I-I.....am-m-m .....behind bars
I can't find a file...I've lost the key
I don't think this heart...can be set free:D:D

...

true-eurt,
criminal of love???? that's great...i really like how that sounds next to what me and Monkey have about having love crimes that's really not committed.

Monkey Allen,
structure dont matter to me...as long as it works with the song...i let someone else hear the verse u recorded and they were amazed...i know the difference in what i've got and u...i played it with a 2/4 timing and about the same tempo as u have it, and u have it as a 3/4 timing...which really adds alot i think. and the way u use ur voice in it really brings out the entire thing..

i'm not really sure what else to write because of how its goin, i mean, it could go so many ways, plus i enjoy people's ideas, so if we all work together maybe it can be completed, but i really like what i see so far...

...

Monkey,
i dont have any ideas for chord for the chorus, i been thinking hard about it...not sure if going to minor chords would be better or what...so i guess just whatever someone feels like going to...
u should record my verse and ur verse together and see what seems like should be next...where u left off with my verse in the recording left me expecting a second verse, record both verses and see how it seems that the chorus should go...

here's another verse i come up with maybe for the ending of the song???

so long - i'm done with you so long
i cant take this heartbreak anymore
bye now - i'm sorry its over - for good
i ain't gonna let these tears fall anymore

let me know what ya think.....Kevin Allen

Hey Kevin, that's a pretty good verse. I was trying for the same sentiments today but I just couldn't write it. So we can go all 3 verses and use true eurt's chorus idea an we just about have a song hey?

I keep going to C for the start of the chorus when I play it...but I guess we could go anywhere. Maybe ask true eurt what she thinks?

Here's a verse idea I came up with today:

Show me why wont you show me
What I can do to get through to you
No more I aint got no more to say
Here's to you and whatever you do

When I get some time this week I'll try to record the 2 verses and maybe even a rough idea for chorus...

Hey Kevin and Monkey...Thank you much...I would love to work with you on this song. However, my audio is down and trying to get someone to help me find the problem.

I haven't heard the audio on the song..only read the words and chords you have...I just got the feel of how it was being written and took a chance with the chorus..criminal of love just seemed to fit.

I am glad you like my addition...glad to be a part of creating.

Hope to have some listening power again soon.

I want to hear the playing and vox on this.

C should be great for the Chorus.

Good songwriting doods.

True:)

True-Eurt, u need to hear what Monkey Allen has done with these lyrics...i had a traditional country feel to it, but Monkey added the older rockish style to it...not hard rock, just something u would expect from the 50's...nice soft flow to it...Monkey is amazing with his vocals almost act as an instrument rather than just a voice delivering words...its amazing...

i am really excited to see this one finished..its really nice so far "i" think..lol

i'm enjoying myself lol...

Kevin, I just clicked on your songs. You rock!

Great music. Seriously, your style is very unique. I feel I can hear some influences in there, so I'm going to guess here:

Beatles, Tull, Lennon?

There was even one song that reminded me slightly of Jack White.

Not that your songs sound like anyone else.

My favorite was definitely "You Don't Say."

That is a great song! It would make a great song to play at the end of a realistic horror film, or one of those surreal ones like the original Candyman.

Kevin...I am waiting on a reply from someone about my audio now. Hopefully I can get it all straightened out in a few days.

Can't wait to hear the song, you two have going here.:)

...

KaveKong,
thanks for listening...but honestly, i've never listened to any of the people u named off....my influences are..Johnny Cash, Duane Eddy, The Ventures, Merle Haggard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Conway Twitty...etc...
