Anyone wanna do a collaboration recording?

It appears that the upload is complete! :D

If there's any problems with it, let me know and I'll upload the one I have on CD... Should be quicker if we need to as I'm on a couple T1's here at work...

:)

I have all the tracks, so I didn't need to download the final zip. Yeah, it took some tinkering to get the vocals lined up, but I did it ok. I spent about an hour getting the levels to stay below -0dB, and I am going to start working on mixing it later today. It's going to be a challenge getting 14 guitar tracks to sit in the mix and have their own space; I normally only have 6 or 7 guitar tracks to work with. But it sounds great. Scrubs, the vocals are awesome. I may tinker with the background vocals because I like the Def Leppard wall of vocal sound, but other than that, hey, great job by all concerned. This was an adventure, and I hope you guys will continue to do this in my absence.

....which hopefully won't be that long... :(

Thanks for the props. For my mix, I'm compressing the snot out of the BG vox because the chorus ones ended up substantially louder than the verse ones.

Too many damn guitars!!! Yeah, that's going to be a problem. Feel free to trash any of mine that don't work for ya. They are just ideas.

So who wants to offer up the mixing duties to the masses? I'm sure they have tired of reading through this giant thread by now. Rokket, it's your song (and you're apparently leaving soon), so I'll leave it up to you to do the honors.

I will do my best, but like you said "too many guitars". I can mix them, but giving them their own space is a pain. So I figured I'd take the left side of the stereo picture and blend them into a cohesive voice, then do the same for the right. If anyone has a better suggestion, let me know. I already took the hi-hat hits out of the intro (they sounded pretty much like a click track anyhow), but I have to bring the drums up, because it sounds like a Celine Dione song right now...

I was thinking...

Once Rokket gets done playing 'Popeye', we may want to take the collab band on a world tour so's to promote our hit single...
We can keep the collab thing going on tour as well... Just have each of us show up at the arena to play our part(s) when our schedule allows...

But we'll need a name...

Any suggestions?

I'm, kinda partial to 'Twisted Synthics' myself....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Um, No.

So are we gonna give others the opportunity to mix this puppy, or what? Or do we want to make our own mixes first?

I say, if we're going to offer it up, we start a new thread linking to the waves and tell them they can do whatever they want to the mix. I'm not that familiar with the whole procedure, though.

I say offer it out to the masses... I'm going to mix it too (when time allows) but I would love to hear what others will/can do with it...

I'm thinking along the lines of what they're doing in the 'Another Kind of Mix' thread... Do whatever you feel is needed with the tracks to make em sound like you think they should...
That also adds to the whole collabrative spirit that this thing encompasses...

I can start the thread if no one has any objections... ?

:)

Go for it!

Twisted Synthics!!!! BWAHAHAA!!!!! *snort*

Start the thread. Be fruitful and multiply.

Plus, I think we should name the album "Synthics Bloody Synthics".

OK, it's like almost midnight here, so be quiet. I don't want to wake the wife...

This is the best I can do with the time I had. I know it's not perfect, but maybe I can get to it.

I will try to sneak back in and see what I need to fix...

Peace out!!!!
I don't feel I am qualified to give you any opinions on mixing, but I liked the song. Since this is the first time I've heard it all together. I went back and tried to listen to some of the posted mp3's, but apparently, some of them were either not working or were already taken down.
Who is singing? I like your voice.

That's me. Thanks. My first time singing hard rock in quite a while.
Nice job. I see that it's open for everyone to mix. I can't download it, it's too big for my dial-up connection. Plus I don't have any software for mixing. I am still trying to decide if I should go with a digital workstation or record to my pc. I am using Tascam MF-P01 to record on right now.
