I've been looking the Ozone mastering dxi plugin (from iZotope). Their EQ sounds really nice. So does the mastering reverb. Not sure about the harmonic exciter and other modules.

Does anyone have any experience - good or bad?

Thanks.

I bought Ozone and I like it a lot. I'm sure someone with tons of mastering experience could maybe successfully use it for mastering, but for newbies like me it acts like a good "swiss army knife" of plugins. the EQ is awesome, the reverb kinda sucks, the exciter kinda sucks, the multiband compression expansion is really cool, pretty much the plugin as a whole is pretty nice and worth the $200. Just beware it will bog down your computer when you use it extensively. With my Athlon XP 1600 processor and 512 MB of memory I can usually only have about two or three ozones going at once.

I bought it....it works sweet. I didn't have multiple Ozones open. I just used it for mastering the overall stereo mix in CEP. It didn't really slow down my computer (Pentium 600). I found all the devices useful and tonally great. The difference between my original (un-mastered) CD and my mastered CD is night and day. Well worth your buck. It is easy to use/learn, yet advanced enough to offer endless possibilities with no restrictions. :)

I have Ozone and I like it a lot. What I think the best thing about it is it gives you visual cues to shoot for when EQ'ing - really helpful for beginners like me who's ear is not trained. All my previous mixes were missing a lot of mid range and I didn't realize it until I ran it through Ozone. Make sure you check out the manual which is free for download. It gives you a great step-by-step on one way to do mastering.

Ive got it and I like it-The eq is very usable (in small amounts) and I really like the multi band compressor. It was the first one I ever used and its intuitive setup got me through the learning curve fairly quickly. Good manual, definetely worth $200. Just remember that you like your mixes once you get to the "mastering" stage, cause there are soooo many nuances you can change-you can get lost in the possibilities. If you can't get it sounding better pretty quick-take another look at your mix.

I tried out Ozone on the last CD I was mixing. I downloaded the free demo which mutes the output every 20 seconds or so. This was enough to convince me that it was what I needed for the project, so I bought it -- and I'm very glad I did.

Yeah, I've got it and I use it. If anything, it can do too much. Start mastering with something a bit more simple like Digital Fishphones' endorphin, until you've got a bit more of an idea of how and what.

Cripes. What the hell would you need 3 instances of Ozone open for?

basically, if you can REALLY REALLY hear what OZONE is doing to the mix, then you've done too much.

my rule of thumb is go till where i can hear it sound good, and back off - in some cases quite a bit.

ESPECIALLY with EQ - it seems to bug my ears in high amounts.

I tried the Free version and was impressed.
As soon as I have some free rubles I am buying it!

... as in but not to be confused with, Barney Rubles?

Ozone is pretty cool, but a resource hog.

I tried the demo too, and I couldn't even get all the modules working in realtime without starting to choke.

i installed it, and every time i booted up logic audio it froze, and everytime i tried to load it in soundforge it froze. So i couldn't use it. so i just got drunk and ran around the woods where there had been numberious cougar sitings recently and scared myself.
