I was looking for the best dual mic pre under £500 and could find the RNP or the SPL Goldmike. I know see that the Toft AFC-2 is £475 and has 4 band EQ as well as dual mono/stereo pres. Has anyone heard any of the new Toft gear?

I am now considering this and possibly the up coming Stdio Projects VTB-2.

I am wondering how Alan and PMI are going to push their JoeMeek stuff, Toft stuff (I think they distribute it also) and Studio Projects stuff, without competing with each other!?

Last I heard/checked, the new Toft gear hadn't been released yet.

I'd love to get my hands on the DC-2 once available! And of course, eventually, the A-Range EQ reissue to be released later this year.

Soundsense, here in the UK say they are hoping to have Toft stuff in stock withing 2 weeks.

Here in the US we've been hearing that too... since like March. I'm quite sure that when it comes out it's going to be excellent... and frankly, I'd rather wait and have it be excellent than to be someone's 'beta bitch'.

I don't ever think I've heard a design of Malcolm's that I didn't like... in my mind, his stuff is worth the wait.

The Toft ATC-2 is actually at that point now they have gone though the extensive QC and we'll be sending out the first ones next week. Over in the UK I believe Malcolm is still checking over the units he has before they go out, but they should be out soon as well. It certainly has taken some time to get done but getting it right is the most important thing. It will feel real good when we've got them all out and start moving on to others.

I heard on my grapevine that the SARS epidemic is slowing down production in china and making shipping hard to do.

According to Alan Hyatt we're supposed to get one sometime in the next week or so to play with... there will most likely be an opinion about it posted somewhere within a couple of weeks of starting to play with it...
