Anyone have any idea where these can be bought in the UK?

They seem like pretty good mics.

Wouldn't it happen to be the same cap as in their little drum mic (think it's the 604?) but in a side-address box?

Mixsit I think the e609 has a larger diaprahgm assempbly as far as I can tell, and they dont sound the same, so I doubt its the same.

Pink- Its a good addition for an extra color or if you need more mics, like for toms.

No idea about the UK.

Great link! I've been thinking about buying a pair of these for a while.

If you were gonna buy or 2 or 3, you might be able to get a better price at Full Compass... maybe a pair for $185.
Joel Pare gives some good ass deals, ask for him.

Thanks for the tip - I'm looking for a pair, and didn't even think of checking with Full Compass. ;)

Hey Neil

I looked in the usual places (Digital Village, Guitar, Amp and Keyboard Centre, Turnkey, Academy Of Sound) to see if any of them sold E609s. No luck I'm afraid :(

If you want one then it looks like you're going to have to buy from Overseas.
Thomann sells them for £119 (inc 17.5% VAT) and Musicians Gear has them for £103. But that doesn't include VAT.

Cheers for looking that up Mark - its appreciated.

They're a tad more expensive than their yank counterparts. Are they the same mic's? I was under the impression these mic's are a blue-green metallic colour, the same as all the other evoloution series mics. Or am I being stupid and not seeing the whole picture her? :(

Sennheiser Silver e609

Concerning the two models of the e609, The $269 priced e609 model is NOT the same sound as the $99 Silver e609 at all. I didn't like the expensive version e609 microphone at all--much too dark for my tastes. That said, the Silver Series e609, is supposed to be just perfect. I would think smooth would apply? I have to get one now!

The Silver Series is black on back side & silver on the front side while the other version is black on one side blue/black on the other side. Hope this solves the mystery? If this isn't enough the price of the first version is a good indicator.

yeah, that place is pretty cool. I live in madison wisconsin and pretty close to the in house store and stuff. Not a whole lot in there... but you can get just about whatever you want without having to get it shipped. I was wondering if anybody ever got anything from them. And how is their service when it comes to shipping and stuff??

I have both and they do sound very different. Although the original is indeed quite a smooth sounding mic, it is almost too dark for some razor edge hard shit, which is mostly what I do.
The new Silver is brighter and a little less smooth by comparison I think, but still stomps the shit out of an SM-57.

If anyone is interested and would like an all-black 609, I MIGHT be willing to trade a black out for a silver series, even-steven. Big difference in price there, but it would give me enough silvers to run around the toms and stuff.

Peace!

tubedude,

i tried to pm you but your mailbox is full.

i'll send you a brand new silver one from MF if you send me your old black one!

I've ordered from them many times (mics included), and their service has been excellent. They've been very competitive price-wise too, and will always price-match anyone else. The cool thing about them is that the first time you call in an order, they set you up with a customer service rep that will be your contact from then on, so if you've ever got a question or need a price, you've got a name to go to. Oh yes - one more thing - they're very dialed into the equipment and actually know what they're talking about (very rare when it comes to the other big name retailers). ;)

Sennheiser e609 Silver microphone

Hey all,

Well I just got an e609 Silver this morning & DAMN this baby smokes on guitar cabinets! YIKES....I freakin' LOVE IT!!!! Much better than the old version e609-- that one sounded muddy. This Silver e609 has the perfect balance of tonal frequencies all the way across the spectrum. I agree with tubedude that this microphone is THE BEST for any amount of dough...I couldn't believe my own ears just how great it really is....RUN don't walk to get yours now. You will not regret it one bit.

The Black doesnt sound muddy to me, its just not hyped very much.. still a good useful mic.
That silver is quite decent, isnt it? I need a couple more before the price shoots up or they discontinue them.
The added benefit is that for quick placement, you just hang it right down off the top of the amp... no mic stand required.
Congrats on a good buy.
