Hi tubedude,

Maybe muddy wasn't the right adjective to use...I just thought the regular e609 was way off of the mark compared to the original MD409 I heard next to it! I will say, however, that the new Silver e609 sounds a lot closer to that MD409 I heard that day. I am very glad to have the new Silver e609 & wouldn't mind getting a couple more for drum mics either. I highly doubt that Sennheiser will stop making the Silver e609 for quite a while. I know for certain that many people complained that their first version e609 wasn't "right" and sounded NOTHING like the MD409 did. I think that this mic will be enjoy some success...because it sounds GREAT!

i think this has pushed me over the edge on how much i need to get some better pres.

i got one today, and we tried it against an sm57 on my dual recto, and it sounded good - for sure, a little clearer then the 57. but sort of made me realize that use the mackie vlz pro pre's are sort of giving everything a certain sound nomatter what mic i use.

i think im going to have to make my next purchase an RNP. i was thinking of going for getting a main vocal mic, like a Rode NTK and then pres... but if im not gonna hear what my mic is capable of with crappy pre's - whats the point? okay. theres my little rant.

Hey Rocket Boy,

I would definitely get something better than a Mackie board for mic preamps for sure. Mackies are so ugly with the SM-57s anyway....The RNP is my nect purchase too!

e606?

has this mic been renamed e606? i was just looking on the web site, it looks just like a 609, but with a silver face. is this it?

Not that I know of, but I guess its possible. Maybe they decided they should differentiate it from the other 609.
Anyone else heard anything?

e606 designation

Yep, you're not seeing double! I saw the new "e606" on the side of the new Sennheiser e609 microphone box too. It says e606 there (but e609 Silver on the microphone body). I think Sennheiser will do something to help consumers avoid confusion between the two microphone models. Very similar to each other visually except price and SOUND.

Does anyone have a older 421 & a609? I have a 421 & wondered if there's a
big differance in these for guitar cabs & toms, thanks

If you were gonna buy or 2 or 3, you might be able to get a better price at Full Compass... maybe a pair for $185.
Joel Pare gives some good ass deals, ask for him.

Hey, Joel's my salesman, too. Full Compass does sell mics cheaper, and you have the advantage of someone to talk to that knows about the products.
