Aspiring Idiot
Ok, so after being quoted $100 a song by a local studio and seeing some of the online places offering mastering, is there anyone on this board that offers said service?
Im not looking for highly professional quality, just want to polish up the songs, get them at the same volume and fade out, fade in type stuff. It will more than likely be about 8-10 songs, each about 3.5 minutes.

Do you have an mp3 sample of what they sound like right now?

Dude, to be blunt, mastering would be a waste of money. You need to fix those tracks first. The vocals need to be retracked or tuned, or both. With your vocal style, you will have to heavily compress it, probably with some presence boost too. The vocal mix is totally up front, you should verb that in the mix. All the acoustics sound like they were recorded direct. On "You Will Be Fine", there is a flub in the first few notes of the solo. Punch that and fix it! During the intro, the solo guitar is panned hard left, but there is no room noise at all on the right, so when the other guitars enter, it sounds really weird. At the end of that track, while the bass and a little bit of guitar are still sustaining, there is audible noise, like a page turning or something. Mute that track, or the ME would have to cut the tail hard. You should compress the bass to get it punchy; otherwise the ME would be forced to break out a multiband, which is not as desirable.

Why would you want to pay someone when they can't fix this stuff? Only you can.

If you don't expect it to sound like a professionally recorded commercial cd, I can make them the same volume, polish them up a little, and do fade in/fade outs.

Those songs are demos of the songs so I could have them down and something to work with. Im in the process of retracking everything, I am aware that a good mastering begins with a good mix. Im working with crude equipment here, thats why Im hoping that mastering can polish them up a little more.
Thanks to all those who offered help, Ill get back to your pm´s later on in the day, off to work now.

I liked it very much especially Tell me your story, I cried with it for a full minute, but I still don't know why! I think it is because I never listen to the radio (because of commercials and idiots who talk through the music) only play cd's so I never get to hear other things.

But also it sounds very natural and free.
People will not understand this it will never score, the world has become much worse it is all about making money.

They will all think that you have to sing more in tone. Robert Plant which is a leadsinger of Led Zeppeling a group from the 80's didn't sing in tone. James Brown didn't either.

Be careful with it do not destroy it. It sounds good, in fact it doesn't need any mastering it is your style, it's freedom. But singing out of tone will never be accepted they're to stupid to understand that it is not important!

That was just too awesome to not quote. I'm pretty sure that this is some sorta Walters wannabe, but I enjoyed that sentence immensely.

First of all, we've all heard of Led Zeppellin, and they're from the 70's, Einstein.

The rest of the post is just too freaking ignorant to even respond to.

What are you saying here.

That they didn't use Autotune?

How do you not sing in tone? Or rather, what is the alternative?

Singing in clicks?

It's not "Led Zeppelin" you idiots it's "Led Zeppeling". With the "ing" on there. It makes all the difference. Zeppelin is just slang for "Zeppeling". All the hard core fans know this.

Yes, I was going to go back and edit my post to say their first album came out in '69. But, for all intents and purposes, they're a 70's band. I think they put out CODA and maybe a few others in the 80's...but I don't think anyone considers "Led Zeppeling, a band from the 80's".

According to my CHART, I have them down forming in '68.

By the way, for the neg reppers, those are DEMOS, they're one take recordings to get the songs down, listen to them and see how they feel. I never said my music is awesome or that a CD will be awesome. We all gotta start somewhere, show me your first 3 songs you ever wrote and recorded
Thanks for all the people who have pm'd with help, I appreciate it.

Then why even bother with having them mastering?
