Ive found out about a local vendor here in the midwest that makes mics for stage and studio use and only salespersons have told me about them so I wanted an opinion from the members of this thread.
I've held one, looked at it, shook it... seems to be a chinese off the shelf... maybe not... didnt hear it... they go for about $150-$200 so dont expect TOO much.. don't get ripped off... Music-Go-Round sells em used for MORE than they are new. Hmph...
I tried One and the construction was pretty good but the display models you see on the shelf are opened up about 2 dozen times before you pick them up and shake them.
the mic was a good knockoff of the big Shure condencers and rang out louder and clearer than the rodeNT2 I tried it with.
It was also 150.00 with the case. I could afford two of these.
Wow! Somebody has heard of Avlex? I thought I owned the only one on the planet.
I have the Avlex C-133 mic. I scored it at Guitar Center for $120 I think, and I have been very happy with it. I know squat about mics, but it seems pretty good for vocals, especially spoken words, and I have made some decent recordings on Violin too.
When I got it, I compared it with a Shure 57 and Rode NT1 (which was the one I went to the store to buy). My violin sounded better on the Avlex, and the Salesman told me to take it home for a week and bring it back. That was last summer, still got it.
For the price, I would say go buy one, or at least go try one.
And to think that these are assembled about a half mile from my house in lenexa ks. I tried one ( the superlux cm-h8a) next to a Rode nt2 and was hotter and clearer than the rode.
This one is large like those big shures and grovetube mics. I plan on buying another one so I can have two for recording live in stereo.
My bad! Really? Dangit, I hate it when I'm wrong! But it's strange, I went to the avlex website and I didn't find the Superlux mic anywhere...maybe I didn't look hard enough.
When I went to the site I didnt see any either. It could be that they havent updated the site since the line came out. But sure a the warranty paper work puts avlex corp. responsible for the warranty this is an avlex mic.
