Anyone got an opinion or own a T.BONE mic

Im thinking about spending the bit extra and going for this mic i want it for acoustic and vocals would it be a good choice

Well this is what i have been thinking too i cant imagine how much better a 3000 dollar mic could sound compared to a 100 dollar mic. I mean how can anyone justify spending that kind of money on a mic sounds like madness to me but as you said kids with too much money and time

mmm dont think jon would be very helpful to me. Things got a bit heated in my last thread and he closed my thread so dont think he too happy with me :)

The best advice I ever read and I'm pretty sure it was on this forum was "Buy cheap, buy twice". I wish I had realised this 3yrs ago when I was wasting money on useless cheap gear

Save up and get the right piece of gear, you will be happier in the long run

My take on that, based on the gear I've used, is more along the line of, "Buy smart, buy once" rather than a price thing. I have a few pieces of budget gear that are close in quality to my high end stuff.

Maby so i thought i was going to be banished from the community there for a while :) have you ever heard of se electronic mics in paticular the se 2000 raven46 posted a link here on this thread and it seems perfect for what i want it for

I'd never base a mic buying decision on descriptions that the manufacturers give. It's just ad copy written by the marketing dept like... "warm... detailed... professional... studio standard... perfect for instruments or voice... blah blah blah." There are manufacturers that don't do marketing hype, but they're the exception.

You want a vocal and ac gtr mic right? For ac gtr just get a Naiant XQ. Costs practically nothing but works great. Very accurate/realistic sound. For vocal, it depends on your voice. What works for one singer might be all wrong for another. I'd suggest that you go listen in the mp3 Clinic, find a vocalist you like the sound of, that sounds similar to you, and ask them what mic they used on the track.

thank you thank you thank you think i will pick up the XQ provided they ship to ireland but should i go for the standard or the high output versions i really dont know the difference i will be just recording at home so which would you recommend

Haha ya man I like that even better. I totally agree, I bought a cheap ass guitar from a reputable company as a back up and I like it so much I use it as much as the Les Paul.

I dont know what the Se2000 will sound like. I have a different one, but I can say for the money the build quality is excellent, it has never let me down, but I do take care of it I never leave it out of its case when I'm not using it.

Where are you in Ireland?

Living in wexford mate and you? Had a look about didnt hear good things about that mic but maby im wrong i think i wil go with the naiant xq for acoustic and still stuck for the vocal mic

Generally I have heard good things about Se.. and have been well reviewed in mags.
If you can get to a semi pro shop like digital Village or others, if your serious it is worth hearing the mics. there is much discussion amongst users as to wot is a good mic, and wot is suitable and great for one voice might not be so for another. I have only once bought a mic not testing first and that was my 50pence bargain Reslo ribbon in 1975 and I still use and love it, but spec wise would not impress...but a lovely warm ribbon sound..a real vintage style,..(read bit crusty, full o character and falls off on the high end, but has somefink???!)
