Im having fun tinkering with some electronic projects...brushing up on my soldering skills.
I have 2 things im going to do before I get on the gibson scout amp. I have 3 mods to do on my Fender Hot Rod Deville.
The Reverb Mod - this is basically just clipping the end of a capacitor and vasatly improving the tone of the reverb....also gives you a more comfortable swing on the reverb nob (makes it not so "touchy"....no more trying to find the sweet spot between 0 and 1/2

)
The bright mod on the clean and overdrive channels - though it's a great sounding amp...it's a wee bit tubby on the bottom end and this will get it to the classic fender blackface tone. gonna have to remove the circut board for those mods
the master volume mod - The master volume, for the overdrive channel. is not so good.....almost all of the volume boost is between 1 and 4 (very little difference from 4 and the rest of the way up to 10. It is annoying, because when gigging you can barely touch the master and your WAY to loud. This is because of the liner pot that fender uses. It's a marketing ploy....gives a potential buyer, sitting in a music store, the "damn, if its
that loud at 1 it's going to be 10 times as loud on 10!" (not so).
Im going to fix that.
I will have a killer amp when I finish these mods.
THEN...it's on to the Brent Mason mod for my Boss bluesdriver 2 (if I don't like that one...I have the details for the Keely mod...if I don't like that one I have the specs for several others.) The parts should be in this week.
THEN...im gonna see what I can do with the Gibson Scout.
Thanks guys for all you input...I very much appreciate all your posts!
