Actually, $31 dollars short, as that is what I paid for the kit
I know clothing conducts static, so I shed all when doing this. No wonder why I enjoyed it so much...alright, too much info, I know. The chip was hard to remove and took some cradling back and forth with the tongs, but more challenging was installing the new one. I was told not to bend the prongs, but the new chip, if looking in profile, had prongs that looked like this /----\. The old chip's prongs were straight up and down. So I did have to uniformly bend (against a hard surface and buffered the prongs with the electrostatic packaging the chip came in) to get them so they would fit. Took about 15 minutes, as I wanted to be careful, but all signs point to a successful installation. Thanks for the info, though!
Sonic,
Listened and a-b'd again. The Lexi definitely has a large edge. I still do not dislike the Alesis, and it tends to sound dark, which is kind of cool, but overall sound as I listen tonight (again, but drum tracks only as that is what I am trying to start with )and is very noticeable in strong favor of the Lexi.
