Anyone else HATE Line 6???

Just try it out for yourself. Bring your guitar down to your local music shop and mess around with it. I do like Line 6. I own a Vetta 2 and an original Flextone head.

So you actually own some of these products, or are you just surmising how much less you like their "feel" compared to vintage instruments you (may) own?

Sure I had to have them recapped, and yes good tubes aren't cheap, but they'll certainly never end up by the curb. Just my rant, not trying to offend at all.

Welcome to HR, by the way.


I think if you are recording, you should probably look into a sturdy tube amp for your first. If you're performing, it may do the trick for you, but you won't be satisfied without a go to amp.

Take care of the meat and potatoes first with a nice tube amp and then pick up spares later.

My opinion, etc.

I'm with you man. Except I really like the clean. I fiddled all around with the bass, mid, treble, reverb, and delay and such and found a tone that I really love. But yeah. the distortion is shit to me, at least for what I'm looking for. A pretty heavily overdriven tone. Instead all I can get is that tone plus distortion up the ass in the backround. It sucks, especially for recording.

I've been looking into new things for a long time now, but I think since I'm low on funds, I'm going to invest in some pedals to make some crazy ass noises and only use the amp for the clean. Although it sure takes some tweaking to get a decent sound with my pedals...

I'm with you..I HATE LINE 6....

that sounds reasonable. one of the reasons i was also looking into it was because of the direct recording capabilities it claims it has. sounded like it was pretty good.

what would be a pretty good tube amp for around $1000?

What are you recording?

you can pick up a very nice Fender at that price point and are getting into Mesa territory as well.

I'm not a metal guy so I don't know anything about what sorts of amps you might want to look at.

I picked up a Hotrod Deville 2x12 for like 750 new.

You could pick up a POD XT for a couple hundred and use that with your Deville for effects or as a modeling DI and cover both bases for @ 1K.

yeah, i was actually considering the podxt as well. I'm recording anything from soft rock to distortion - but not metal distortion . Thats what i'll probably end up doing, buying the podxt and an amp in that 600 - 800 price range.

hate to shift gears in the 9th inning, but line 6 aint all that bad. Ive owned the pod pro, and a combo 1x12 flextone. Didnt dig it live, and Im sorry but if you had the spider half stack next to the mesa dual rec half stack and it sounded better, its because the mesa was on fire and had 3 blown power tubes. Most of these solid state things get brittle when cranked. Now recorded on the other hand, I prefer digital because it behaves. 5 min and I have a good controled sound. The mesa could take hours(and sound worse maybe).
 
Line 6 sucks. It's cheap shit that is over-advertised and overpriced. It would be better to get a keyboard amp and a rackmount computer (or boss pedal) than deal with anything that says line 6.

I truly believe that in the next 10 years amp and pedal modeling will sound just like the real thing or better. The stuff gets better every year.

I didn't read the whole thread, but there's my $0.02 anyway.
 
TO be honest, I'm really beginning not to give a flying fuck about any of it.
 
I re-read a lot of this just now and it is amazing to me how passionate some people are in thier contempt of and hatred for Line 6.

Considering that he underlying cause of anger and hatred is fear, what may these angry people be scared of? :rolleyes:

I'll take the sound of a pro playing through a Boss metal zone plugged into a boom box over the sound of a wanna be rock star poser with a Triple Rec any day.

Who cares how you acheive your sound? It's YOUR sound!!

If that aint the truth - people do suck, and many of them like to frequent these forums where they can get away with sucking so bad...
