anyone can be beirut

I just threw this together to see if I could pull off the 'Beirut' sound - to see if it was just arrangement and production that carried the album instead of good songwriting.

I played all the instruments; this is a little clip of what I came up with. It's fun, but it's far too easy, the substance really has to be in the lyrics with this type of music or it genuinely must be from the Balkans, imho.

 
I guess anyoen can be beirut but there already is a beirut and he invented that style.
 
I'm sorry, I can't even respond to that. I don't want to be rude.
 
Had a friend we called Beirut, He was always getting bombed :D Pa Da crash!

I know, I know... Extremely bad taste was used in the formulating of that joke :o :eek: :D



I suppose I'll sign and leave now.

he did not 'invent' that style, not even remotely. that style is from the balkans and it's quite old. he wasn't the first to do it and most of his songs have no substance, which is hidden by the novelty of the arrangement.
