Anybody have trouble with memorex CDs?

Anybody else have problems using Memorex CD-R ALL USE CDs?

I bought these because you could save data or music to them, but they are weird looking. The face of them where the data is written is entirely black. You can't even tell where the data is written like you can with a silver faced CD.

Well anyway I'm not sure if it's the CD Burner or the black faced disks causing noise in the recording. It sounds like the scratches you would hear on the old vinyl records. Whoops I gave my age away........

Well anyway has anyone used these Memorex CD-Rs and had scratch sounding noises in the recording? My burner is brand new. I hope it's not a dude. I haven't tried anything yet but these black CDs. I'm headed to the store to get some real CDRs.
Any suggestions on which ones. You guys use the Music CDRs or the all purpose CDRs? What the heck is the difference?

Ok, here is any response.

I've never tried the all black cd media, I've been meaning to, for the sole reason that they look cool. What is your burner, what software for burning etc. I would try some other media though before drawing too many conclusions, memorex is far from the pinnacle of quality media producers. Try Mitsui or Kodak.

I'm using a Sony burner. Brand new. The upper end.

I played the CD on my stereo and it sounds like Sh@#!
The worst you could get a CD to sound. My stuff sounds
crappy enough without all of that.

To isolate the stereo I threw my wife's Titanic CD in there and it sounded awesome.

So I'm thinking it burned wrong or is the CD itself.

I put the CD in my computer and it sounds good.

You think my stereo is having a hard time reading these black CDs?

Well I don't think I'll be buying any more.
 
Yeah your right.

I will try something else. So far these black ones are the only ones I've tried. I just want to ensure the CD burner is OK. If not I'm under 30 days and can ship it back.
 
Ok.

OK the problem is my stereo won't read the black-faced CDs.
It destorys them while trying to play them. They play fine in the car.

The morale of the story is don't buy those freakin black CDs.
 
Yes, I've had trouble with memorex media, the regular green/gold stuff too. I will never buy it again.

I've had MAJOR problems with Memorex CD-Rs. Not the ones you're talking about, they we're garden variety. I made about 20 "coasters" and was almost in tears. I thought it was my burner at first but on a whime tried some Maxells and no problems since. :mad:
 
Thickness !

Buddy of mine found the Memorex 80 minute CD's were slightly thicker than others, and would *not* easily eject from General Motors auto CD players !
Worked fine in my Volvo, and several Fords, but not in his Oldsmobile, or a friend's Chev (after this, other GM owners were understandably hesitant to try it).
