Wil Davis,
that's so cool, keeping a logbook of sides played! I keep track of where I bought my vinyls, how much they costed and I have 'em all in Access so I can search for titles, year etc.
Also, and this is important, I always keep the A-side face up in the sleeve and I even have the inner sleeves organised in a certain way. Geeky, I know.:)

Lt. Bob,
I've never had to pay more than $20 for a new vinyl here so I guess I'm lucky. What I've payed for rare items is a completely different issue...

You seem to be quite knowledgable about turntables. I am wanting to get a decent turntable for my home stereo system. What I am wanting to know is, what is the best bang for the buck out there right now? I look on ebay, and there are tons of used turntables, but I'm not quite sure what is "good" and what is not. I've been watching for a Thorens 124 or 125 to come through ebay at a low enough price (~$150) for me to buy, but they go for more than that. So, what are some good TTs to keep an eye out for on Ebay? Thanks for the help.

After collecting hundreds of sound effects records over the years. I am not about to give up my Garrard turntable until it is pried out of my cold, dead hands.

I have some vinyl. Everything from Slayer and Cradle of Filth to Johnny Cash

I use to have alittle over 1000 LP's and now am all but blind from reading Goldmine magazine. (Which I understand has changed somewhat do to bootleg crack downs.)

In the early 80's I found a two record (Mono) bootleg set of Zep "Live at Blueberry Hill". It was a fairly rare recording in my area, so I was WAY COOL at parties. (LOL)

I seriously miss the art and "vibe" of LP covers!

I thought the Zep 3 cover was cool as hell.

What's your fav, missed or most treasured LP cover??

Well I have about 6000 of them so I couldn't pick a favorite although one of my favorite covers is the 3-D cover on Captain Beyond's first album.

secretorchard.......there are far too many to name names and I'm not sure what kind of stuff e-bay has but some general guidlines......belt-drive is much preferable to direct drive.....
and you want to avoid turntables with lightweight plastic chassis.
A good site to look at many different types of turntables is The Needle Doctor.com.....not sure of the address but it'll be easy to find when you search.
And they have several very good sounding tables at the $200 range so you might find something new you like.

:D YES !! approx 300 or so and still growing, amazing but you can still find old vinyls in very good condition at sales in the midwest.

Just as the Americans have their Patriot movement, with bunkers full of canned corn and ammo, I have my analog bunker too!:D

I have a Thorens TD126 MkIII that can play 33's 45's & 78's. I have a second one that I keep for spare parts just in-case!! A collection of Ortofon MC cartridges and a few from the OM30 series with special 78 styluses and spare belts.

All this to preserve a growing collection of records that date back to the 1920's.

I have about 400 records so far and am always on the hunt at garage sales for hidden treasure.

There is something magical about quality analog reproduction. From the art of usage and maintenance to the wonderful rich tone and sound staging that only analog thus far seems to be able to reproduce to my satisfaction.

Wave your freak flags high!
