I have a pair of AKG K 240DF's and they brilliant. Have you checked out the AKG webpage?

thanks for the reply...i know the higher end AKGs sound good but i was wondering about the K55.

anyway, for those interested, www.abemusic.com has them for USD29.99 . a steal or worthless piece of junk?

(but somehow, you can't go wrong for a pair of akgs for 30 bucks right?)

To my mind I have the perfect headphones. Headphones are vital in recording (as well as listening to music-you have a mind then that listens to nothing else-it picks up so much more of the detail that you have not heard before). I have no idea of the price of them in USD-probably cheaper as usual but I got them for £70, were £90 (enough said-I know a few people after spending thousands-they obviously pitty me)-but to invest in these would be worth it-as long as you keep them well maintained they will last. They are on the border line of proffesional obscene priced headphones and the top quality self-recording with their diffused feild etc. Buying a pair of these in my opinion is more important than buying good monitors as the detail is picked up.

By spending say $90 instead of $30 you could be saving money especially in the long run.

By the way-it's been a while since my last reply-have you bought any yet out of interest?

hi there.... i think ive decided to go for the AKG240FD instead.... thanks very much for your feedback on this!

If you are looking for good quality, affordable headphones, the Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs are outstanding, and can be had at zzounds for $60--they were around $100 everywhere until zzounds for whatever reason dropped their price a month or so ago.

A good source for headphone reviews is www.hifichoice.co.uk. Click on Reviews, then on Headphones.

hi Todd, thanks for the info, i'll definitely check that one out! also, thanks for the link!

Yo Tricuit of Planet EARTH:

Try a set of Beyer 250 phones and you'll toss all of your other sets to Dragon.

I have two sets; one for me and one for my canaries who are clients who do vocals.

I've used AKG and I have Sony phones in the studio; but, I'm sold on the Beyer 250's.

Have to run now; Kato is trying to steal my last can of Coors.
