Hey, I have recorded 6 songs from my band over a weekend and put them up on the web. Let me know what you think, critiques on anything are welcome - mix, vocals, guitars, anything you want to point a finger at. We never were able to play these live as my buddy came up from AZ to record them and we only had 3 days to track it all. on the myspace, there is a link to the website where you can see some pictures of it if you wanna.

Take care.

Checking out the first song and like it so far. I hear a little mix of The Eagles, is this dolerite? Drums are a little out of time every now and then, but it's nothing major. Very good music.

Yes, I think drums were by far our biggest obstacle. He had to play to us and we didn't use a click. Made it tough, thanks for the input! Dolerite?

besides some timing issues as noted by other members, i think this is great...it could be that i'm from texas though. i would maybe eq some of the "quacky" frequencies out of the overheads. i like the warm kick and the dry snare though. vocals are maybe a touch too out front for my tastes, but they don't stick out in a bad way either...nice thick 70's sound. acc guits are nicely balanced, and i'm sure as mine do, it sounds way better when not played thru mespace. good job. keep em coming.

Sounds great. The drums were a little hesitant at the start of the first song. That drew my attention to them. Other than that though... nice song. Great harmonies. Odd ending there.
I'll let the others play through while I browse.

Listening to Our Debts We'll Repay...I really like it a lot :). Very earnest and genuine sounding - which goes a long way for me anyway.

So hard to judge mixes from myspace. There is a nice natural sort of thickness to the sound...maybe a bit dark overall all, but nice. How were these recorded?

Here's an opinion. "Hard Patch Earth" is a good fucking song. (sorry about the language). I like everything about that tune and the recording. Everything.

It's a shame you didn't track to a click. The faster tunes suffer from the drum glitches. Considering how you tracked it, it's a miracle it turned out that well, honestly...but it'd be cool to hear them tracked starting with the drums.

Thank you for the responses guys! I appreciate the time it took.

Heatmiser - these were recorded on my macbook, through a firepod. Used a BabyBottle for all acoustic guitars and vox, sm57 and BB for bass, drum mic kit, pencil overhead and BB for the piano, and 57 for electric guitars. All tracked to rythym acoustic.

jim lad - I wish we could have layed drums down with a scratch guitar first, but oh well, you live and learn. I will definitley do that next time! I never thought of it as an odd ending but, I listened to is with that in mind and now, yes, I agree. :)

chrisharris - thank you!

Debt - nice work on a terrific song.
The wooshing pulses became a bit annoying in headphones.
the beginning of the solo needs a bit of a fade in as it clashes with the last syllable of the vocal line & the cymbal - it also drops radically in vol after the loud entry - I think you ought to sort that out.
Well captured vocals.
Good stuff.
Oh, post somewhere else in additionl toMspace - your page takes some time to load & the streamer is pretty rough on music.

Listening to the first song, and it's really good. I hear a real Neil Young flavor to the vocals. In the intro, the cymbal is kind of annoying, and doesn't really fit.

Thanks for the input: can you please explain the "wooshing pulses" I'm not sure I quite get what you mean. Is the bass muddy? Thanks
Also, thank your the kind words and yeah, with the drums, we were going for a threshing grain type of vibe, maybe it lasts too many measures?
