Ohh and should i put the sub up between the two NS10 copies?
The room size is 7' x 8'(slightly smaller), and will have bass traps in the corners, broadband absorbers in first reflection points side and above, behind the speakers, and covering the back wall. I will be miing in 5.1 surround, so there are a lot more first reflection points, lol. Where would you suggest, or should i ask in the building forum?Ironklad Audio said:totally not necessary
bass frequencies tend to not be very directional - they're often felt more than heard, so it's best to place the subwoofer in a spot that will give the room itself the truest low-end response, which is going to depend on the size of the room, acoustical treatment, etc. etc.

Thanks. Yeah i saw these too. Which would you suggest without using them?Kevin DeSchwazi said:Well the focusrite octopre LE and the Studio projects SP828 both come in a little under your budget.
Not a recommendation because I haven't used either but perhaps a couple to look at?
Edit: Tascam do an 8 channel pre for £250 too:

Yeah I've seen the nady and smpro. How do you think these will do? I know there is a lot better out there, but would you suggest them as a start, then later i can sell them?kojdogg said:The Studio Projects 828 has received some good press and mb reviews. It has Burr-Brown IC's, which reportedly help the sound quality. It seems to be available in the states for about $600.
If you want cheaper there seem to be a few real low budget ones like the Nady and the SMPro.
Having used SP, Tascam and Focusrite platinum pres (although not these specific units) I'd put them all firmly in the same camp, I doubt there's going to be any significant difference between them.pandamonk said:Thanks. Yeah i saw these too. Which would you suggest without using them?
Have ayou read any good reviews, and which company usually have good products in this price range?
Never thought of that... I'm such an idiot. I'll just save up for them all, keep the 1 i prefer, and send the others back. Thanks... My ears are really trained enough to tell the difference yet thoughKevin DeSchwazi said:Having used SP, Tascam and Focusrite platinum pres (although not these specific units) I'd put them all firmly in the same camp, I doubt there's going to be any significant difference between them.
The Tascam's pretty cheap so they may have skimped a bit with the design, that's just speculation though based on the price.
If you have the capital you could get them all from Thommann and keep the one you like (they have a 30 day, no quibble return policy).
Other than that you'll just have to read up as much as possible on each unit and make your choice based on the most favourable user reviews.
