"Tempo" was a bad way to express it. The guitar was playing the individual notes of chords thru that section. The last note of that one chord was "late." At least I thought so. "Tempo" was my lazy-ass way of describing it. :D

See if you agree... Or rather "hear" if you agree.
I was just playing with you, 3M. I don't take my guitar playing all that serious. (Hmmm... maybe if I did, I would actually get better :) )

Anyway, I'll check out that part. You're probably right, although since the part was doubled you would have thought an offtime note would have stood out pretty prominently - unless, of course, they are BOTH off. :D Oh well, as I told Pete, at least I'm consistent.

Thanks again for the feedback. And thanks to all the others who have commented. I have already made several positive changes based on all the good input (although the posted version is still the original one).

Did you use the c1 on the vox also? What type of effects on guitar and voice? Brand? Outboard or Internal EQ?...

Sounds good BTW.

I don’t know why you would hear a difference in the vocals in the early parts of the song versus the latter ones. All of the settings (eq, compression, reverb, delay) remain constant throughout.

Didn't want to pin it down as "compression", necessarily... but it sounded to my ears like the threshhold setting was too fast in the early going... and none of the lead-transients on vocals were making it thru... just had that soupy, homogenous, almost unintelligible quality to it--similar to the problem TripleM had on his stuff for a while...

but by that phrase "a rose is a rose" (or whatever it was) it sounds (almost) like the threshhold was lengthened... it got just a wee bit clearer.

It could be a lot of things... most notably poor hearing (on someone's end :D)...

I'll spin it some more. Thanks for sharing it :)

Bharis - Yeah, C1 all the way. My "mic closet" consists of one C1 and a few Shure 57s and 58s. We usually first record a scratch track of the vocals all sung together using all the mics, and then go back and overdub each part individually using the C1. We do that because we sing in an open area with no way to isolate the individual voices (and we only own one decent vocal mic. :D ) The scratch track, of course, sets the timing for us and allows us to hear the other voices as we record them again.

Everything was tracked completely dry. Effects were added later via software. This song has a Waves Truverb room reverb on everything (instruments and vocals to various different degrees), and then also a Sonar FxDelay on the vocals.

Chad - let me know if you still hear it on later listens. As I said, none of the settings are changed throughout the song. My first guess would have been something to do with the lead singing solo versus the group harmony, but by the time you get to 'a rose is a rose' we've done both solo and harmony parts. So ya got me.

BTW, took your advice and boosted the eq @5K a little on the guitars. I like them better this way. thanks.

Hey Mike - Downloaded last night & listening at work on headphones.

This sounds really good to me. The vocals are very fine. I get a feeling of lost energy at the falsetto part, mostly in the vocal. I understand this part of the song is supposed to come down a bit, but the energy of the vocal just seems to come down a bit too much there to my liking.

Maybe the bass can come up a little? It sounded a little bass light to me. Keep in mind where I’m listening.

This sounds great. I hope you post the finished version. I can add it to my Dachays collection :D. I only hope that my recordings can start approaching this level some day.

Very good stuff man. A very enjoyable listen.

Hey... I remember replied to this one, but somehow didn't make it there...

aah, anyway Almighty, it's a great great piece of vox you showed us :) Arrangement, performance and technicaly perfect :) I didn't have much to say since everybody seemed giving good hints of their point of view. Just couple cent / dB reduction on hihat will be good I think :) actualy, it's played good, but makes the feel of "too monotone" all over songs. I dunno, I heard hihat sometime "fight" with vocals in frequency wise... just a thought... It goes to "keep it" folder of me :)

...Master, when can I sing like thou ? :D

John - thanks for checking in and for the feedback. As discussed earlier, the bass lacks articulation, which is probably what is causing it to get lost on headphones. I boosted the eq @ 3K which seems to have helped, but still not happy with it.

Falsetto is an issue becuase I don't know if our guy can do it much better. But we're gonna give it a try tomorrow night.

I'll let you know once we have a finished version. I mean you gotta have the COMPLETE dachay collection, right? :D

James - well it's about time. < kidding >

Thanks for checking it out. Now if we could only combine our harmonies with your great musical arrangements and Jagular's voice. Hey, how about a Sonar collaboration? :D :D

Oh, and I'll check out the high hats. thanks.
