okay, im not asking which i should get... because i know you'll just say "we cant know without you singing on it and what you knowing want to hear in your voice." just maybe to narrow it down a bit to which mics should be looked at for voice in say the under 300 range, and then in the under 1000 range. thanks.

under $300

Marshall MXLv67G,MXL2003,v77,v69

Studio Projects B1,C1,TB1

Rode NT1000

Shure sm57,ksm27

Sennheiser MD421

ADK A51

AT4033

The next vocal mic I buy will be in the $300 range, and I the two I want to try most are the AT 4040 (new) and the Shure SM7 (used). The V69 and the V77 would be contenders but I already have a tube mic.

Hrmm. I want something to give me some clarity, and pleasing color. Are those contrary terms in this price range? I was thinking of the V67 possibly.

Well, the V67G is well well under 300. If your question was under $100 then it would be a definite recommendation.

I think a lot might depend on what mics you already have. If you already had a condenser I might suggest a high quality dynamic like the sennheiser 421 or 441. If you already had a condenser and a dynamic and had a preamp with lots of lcean gain I might suggest the oktava ribbon.

i have an AKG C2000b, which seems to work for lots of things... just not really voice that well. The V69 Mogami edition is 299. would you say that would probably give me more of what im looking for?
