I have used a metal object and scrape it carefully down a string before too to create a violinish sound.
Circle your pick over the strings while holding a chord gives the resonance of the chord without the attack.
This one is physically strenuous: Lay a piece of your rightupperarm over the 15th frets and strum with your right hand. It's sound like muted chrords with harmonics. It only sounds good with some chords though.
I haven't tried this but wonder if it does anything: what if you hold a magnet above the pickups with the strings between them. Is it harmful for the pickups?
Or do you just get really annoying feedback. hehe
