Reprinted statement from Joel Hamilton:

"Just got off the Phone with the guys from Lyndstrom/ATR services.

THEY WILL BE MAKING TWO TAPE FORMULATIONS, IN ALL FORMATS WITHIN TWO TO THREE MONTHS!!!!!!!

Carl Rusk is who I was on the phone with, he is one of the people in the "doom and gloom" Wall St. Journal article.

There will be a High Output formulation based on some of our old favorites, and a lower output formulation based on a very old favorite.

YES. FOR REAL. THIS IS IN MOTION, AND THEY WILL BE MAKING TAPE WITHIN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS!!!!!!

This company should be supported. Obviously this was a wake up call.
Tell anyone with a tape machine. The tape will be BETTER quality than what we have been dealing with lately."

I guess once I see it happen I won't panic, it is a ray of hope.

I should also say that it's for all types, from 1/8" to 2". We don't know if the cost of tape will stay the same (respectively) but I'm guessing it won't deviate much if at all from what we're used to.

If its not one thing it another. :(

So who is this company? What do they make?
The company is ATR services - http://atrservice.com

They specialise in refurbishing and modding Ampex ATR-100 series
tape machines, up to and including their bizarre 108 model, which is a 2" 8-track
recorder using JRF heads.

I want one, but I can't have one..

If you want to help out ATR get a feel for market potential go over to Fletchers Forum at R/E/P and add to the questionaire.
