(I tried to repost in original post and ended up having to do it all again...this rig IS for sale)
I really hate to do it, but I'm selling my analog rig. I've surrendered to the digital domain. This is what you'd get:
1. Tascam TSR-8 8 track reel to reel tape recorder. It uses 1/2" tape on 10.5" reels. It's in very good condition cosmetically and operation-wise. This is the last model multi-track Tascam made. Nice looking and sounding machine. I'd advise you to look up specs and abilities on-line if you're not familiar with this machine....or ask me and I'll try and get you the answers. I've had this recorder about 4 years and really haven't used it all that much......an on and off kinda thing. The heads are in excellent condition.
2. Allen & Heath MixWizard 20:8:2 dedicated 8-track mixing board. This is the one that really hurts.....I LOVE this board. I almost wanna keep it for the preamps. These particular mixers are very rare and hard to find now. It is made for an eight track analog, or digital recorder. Direct outs, inserts, six aux sends counting the cue-mix etc. etc.. Hope you can see from the pix what it has. They still have info on it at the Allen Heath website. It just sounds so F'in' good. Similar to other older MixWizards, only made specific for recording. The bottom left corner edge is a little bent and there's a paint blister on the top face, above all the knobs. It's about a half inch by a quarter inch and shows up in the photo more than real life. Other than that there are NO issues with this board.....everything works and sounds wonderful....as it should.
3. QuikLok rolling mixer/recorder rack-stand. A big thing, 12 or 14 rack spaces, not sure. I used it to mount the TSR8 on. I don't have the rack ears for the Tascam, so I put cross-bars across the QuikLok and set the Tascam on them and tilted the rack at an angle....it worked but rack ears would have been much better. (last time I looked, there was a pair on ebay for the TSR8). This is in very good condition also.
4. Four reels of 10.5" reel-size, 1/2" Quantegy 456 GrandMaster tape. 3 of these were purchased new a few months before stores sold out all stock. They are relatively recent. They say QUANTEGY only on the boxes, no Ampex. They vary from one pass to two or three passes at most....on relatively few tracks. Barely used, almost new. The other tape is Ampex (quantegy) 456.....I used it a lot, but it still sounds good to me. No shed or anything. Also included are two metal take-up reels and a plastic one. The Scotch metal take-up needs straightened or something....it tends to rub the tape at certain intervals. I don't have a bulk eraser, so the tapes will have some audio on them....especially the Ampex.
5. Two Hosa 8-track snake/cables. One for 8 IN.....one for 8 OUT.....or visa versa. 1/4" TS to RCA ends.
6. Manuals for TSR-8 and Allen Heath mixer.
Well, that's about it. All elements of the rig operate great and as they should. Add some good outboard effects and you're set. A wonderful analog set-up and sound. I'm asking $900.00 for it all. I look at it this way: 400 for the tape deck.....400 for the mixer.....100 for the 4 tapes, rolling rack/cart, Hosa cables. I could probably get $200.00 just for the tapes on E-slay.....and the rack/cart was over $100.00......Anyway, I think it's fair. Please ask any questions you like, I can E-MAIL anyone very pretty pictures of all this......I think the KB size is too big on the photos to post them with this post. One other thing, this is for pickup only. I live about 30 miles south of Erie, Pennsylvania, near the Ohio border. I would prefer a U.S. Postal money order (that I will cash first). I'd like to leave Paypal out of it....since they'll take a 30 dollar bite. But, if there's no other way I'll do it. Whoever comes over to pick this rig up will have the chance to try it out and make sure everything works to their liking......but no cold-footers please. If this equipment doesn't look and operate as stated you'll get your money back. Hope my babies find a good home. Thanks for listening.
