Ampex 440C 1" 8trk Capstan motor

Okay. I got confused because a couple posts ago you said “I especially liked the 1/4" 2trk B for live stereo. From memory I think the Ampex head gap was a bit larger on that format.”
 
looks like on a quick search:
  • 1/4" two track 0.082" (NAB) vs
  • 1" 8trk 0.070".
