My amp has a 4 way footswitch that connects via a 1/4inch jack, problem is sometimes, although the switch has a light on it that always changes, the channel doesn't always actually switch. Obviously im worried its going to happen live, anyone any ideas what could be causing this to happen?

Can't say for sure but will your amp switch channels otherwise?I'm sure you can switch channels without a pedal. If your amp switches fine then it may be a bad spot in your footswitch cord. Also it may be a loose solder connection in the input jack of the amp or the 1/4 jack of the footswitch. If the connections look good i'd try another footswitch.

Will have to check the soldering as a first i guess. Not sure what you mean by switching without a footswitch, are you suggesting i run back to my amp, reach down and manually press the button whilst performing and singing?

No not while you're performing.I'm just saying to manually press the button to verify that the amp is working fine without the footswitch. If your amp is switching fine without the footswitch then the problem is most likely in the footswitch.Just suggesting some basic troubleshooting by process of elimination.

As far as performing goes just remember murphy's law - anything that can go wrong usually will go wrong. It's best to try and get it resolved before your next performance.Since it only does it sometimes but not all the time it sounds like a bad connection or wire.I'm sure you've experienced this with guitar cables, mic cables etc.

Try putting some Caig's Deoxit on the connectors. I have had similiar problems before, Deoxit works great.
