ok, here are some details on it:

16 channels / 8 busses / 8 returns / 2 fx returns / 4 fx sends

this thing was owned by a close friend of mine who is a complete tech-head. to quote him he says "this is the best sounding scorpion on the planet, with $50,000 of tech work put into it."

he owned it for maybe ten years, mixed a bunch of records on it, including mine... of course he had a bunch of outboard gear, but the shit sounds killin!

this thing is worth the money alone just for the 16 pres (which sound great) with EQ! you heard me right, sixteen pre's with EQ. for those of you interested in analog summing, this is a great board to throw into your mix.

I'd like to get $1,750 for it. the only reason I am selling it is because I don't have space in my studio. argggh.

I've got all original manuals including spec sheets on mods made to the console. this thing comes with three 1/4 inch patch bays as well (need to be hard wired to the bay), a bunch of patch cords (I'll give you all I have), and a rack mounted external power supply.

I live/work in the nyc area, so a pick up would be preferred if you are interested.

you have to meet this guy then you'd believe it. as an aside, he's been editing his drums for his new record for 3 years now. a meticulous being. the 50k is his estimate for parts and time spent making the all mods... he works professionally for $100 an hour.
 
Although otobianki is a newbie here, I know him from another forum and he is a good guy. Please no "this isn't ebay" comments, I suggested he post it here.

maybe if you could list some or all of the modifications that were made to the mixer, it may be of help. also, pictures and any other info that you can come up with.

Honestly, I did not mean anything personal or disrespectful by my post. I am a console lover and have had a couple of TAC Scorpions. They are actually very easy to modify. However, I can't even fathom what you could possibly spend that much money on in a TAC Scorpion. As far as I can tell you could only put 3 to 5k in parts in one (changing all caps, resistors, chips, power supply elements etc...). That may even be a high estimate. If however you manage to put more in, than it really isn't a TAC Scorpion anymore. I truly am curious as to how this all happened though. With even a few good mods, I think a 16 channel Scorpion is worth what the seller is asking. Just a power supply for a TAC Scorpion in good shape is worth about $500 or so on its own. That would make the console $1250 or so for 16 channels and 8 busses. Not a really bad deal in my opinion. Once again though, this is assuming a set of good mods has been applied.

hey, no problem. I wish I could get all the details for potential buyers. I, personally, am a console idiot, and my friend claims he "doesn't have the time right now" to go into the mods. he just installed a new console (quad 8) and spent a year doing all the work to get it slamming.... I think he's burnt out on the tech end of things. yes, I know all the caps, resisters, chips, etc., have been changed to his liking. I think he did something with the summing buss as well. the power supply is a huge thing... it's the 500 Series Power Unit which is rack mountable. I will send him an e-mail today and see if I can get him to give me a little more info. I definitely know he factors in his labor to what he thinks the board is worth.

I'll post some pics later for you guys to look at. I can also provide a link of mp3s which were mixed on the board... really fantastic sounding.

Damn, I want this. Too bad I live in Washington and it's hard to cart a console around with you on location to do recordings. Haha.

yeah, and just the power supply alone would be a task to move around. washington ain't that far if you're lookin to do a road trip. I'd consider shaving off some $ towards your vehicle/gas expenses if you were really interested. ;)
