This is my first mix recording on a pc. I still need to get a good condensor mic. I'm thinking rode nt2 for the money. You will see I need a little more brilliance in the vocals. It has canned drums cutt up for my use but I bought a set of drum mics and am working on the real thing. The drums on the song now are not midi.!.!.! I am not that type guy but rather real drums recorded and looped. Let me know what you think. It is rock, deep, and a litle twangy. any suggestions would be great.

Go to www.mp3.com/freudian_slip1
and listen to the coffin song. If you have a good connection you would be best of to download it other wise you can not hear the mix really. It is only 3MB. let me know? This is reeeeal stuff guys. I do not game on the mp3.com system. I have yet to make a buck. Just a free place to post.

I think the mix is quite good.

I like the bass drum. Its quite warm. It could be more punchy, but this is just a tweak.

Nice use of the stereo field.

I think the snare could be a tad louder. I personally like the choice of snare.

The vocal sounds good. If I heard it on a pro cd, I would have no complaints, BUT since this is the mixing clinic, I think that it has too much verb.

Keep it up

ps, I am digging what you did with the harmony

edit: COOL SONG, nice harmonies. You have a very good voice.

For some reason, I dont think the nt2 is the mic you need. A TLM 103 will work great with your voice. A cheaper marshall v67g will also work great. They have more high end

Thank you

Thanks for your suggestions and comments. I am in the process of mixing in some real drums now. They are the hardest for me. I have little practice at it.

I will look into the other mics. The other songs were done in a pro studio, pro remastered and the whole shot. In those songs He mixed my voice flat with a flat condensor mic. For this song I was using a EV nd257b. It has some bass boost to it. I tried to pull some bass and add some highs. mostly s's and t's at about 12 to 16k. But I still get some people saying it is hard to understand the vocals at times.

Try Try again.
