Howdy. Please advise the following, or whatever else comes to mind:
1. Are the lyrics clear and easy to understand?
2. How's the bass?
3. Anything out of tune?
4. Anything annoying or stand out too much?

"Not Much Company"

Recorded on an ADAT with a Mackie 1202

Nice tune :)

- Snare: Way too piercing. Sounds like this is only bottom snare mic or something heh.

- Overall drums: Hmh.. somehow those drums aren't cutting it. Where is the kick? They sound somehow "lofi" and lacks the punch.

Overall this tune has very "thin" sound. You need to get the lowend working better. This song is missing the "bottom piece" where to build the rest of the mix.

Yeah, you pretty much nailed my weakest link - the drums. They're played live from a Roland V kit and my, uh, technique, is not so great. I see what you mean about the snare being piercing; I hadn't caught that before.

The bass guitar is a Fernandez jazz bass into a PODxt (the one for guitar). I haven't been able to muster very good tones from it so I end up cutting the bass EQ -12dB at 40Hz & 63Hz and about -4dB at 100Hz (otherwise it gets into earthquake kind of muddiness). I have a sinking feeling that the only other way to get better bass tone is getting a better bass...

Ok.... I like the tune .. Very laid back and listenable..

I can't add much more than the snare is a bit bright and I can't hear the kick at all.

You suffer from the same problems I have .. Drums...

You have an overall good sound though.. I don't hear anything "lowfi".
