hey...I like my Wedgies....and at a $100 a pop, ya can't beat em. Maybe they'll drop to 50 bucks a whack in the used market now!!!

My RA100 still works...clip lights always seem to be on....but.....no matter...I like it LOUD.

Some new information, 3/29...

For a response to the "Alesis is dead" rumors from John Maier of Alesis, go have a look at this thread:

http://www.3daudioinc.com/wwwboard/messages/12227.shtml

and search in it for John Maier.

Mr. Maier appears to be an official corporate spokesman for Alesis (Director of MarComm), and the gist of his article is that the rumors of Alesis's death are somewhat exaggerated.

They are indeed downsizing, restructuring, and spinning off some product lines. But they appear not to be either closed down, in receivership, or whatever else might come to mind. In extremis, perhaps yes: ripe for a merger or buyout, certainly. But dead? no.

Hope that their engineering group rides this out well enough. I've been through this at another pro audio company, and it ain't fun.

As I started the thread - never said that they were dead
Alesis is here, still alive, but no longer busy like a hive.

I stated they filed for chapter 11 - which is a stage of bankrupcy which affords protection from creditors in order to re-structure and re-finance the business.

A lot of the engineers are gone - I've been told by an ex Alesis engineer who's gone :(

Alesis

I have been following the progress of the "End of Alesis" for some time now, as I know a lot of people that do/used to work there. As of last Friday (the 29th?) they had been denied chapter 11 protection.

Rumors are that Fender, of all companies, is the strongest contender to buy them out.

Just my 2 cents worth.

what the hell were they thinking with the air fx? that looks like it was relegated to the level of casio 17 key keyboards of the 80s instantly.

one pro of this situation, hopefully there will be some good liquidation prices for the consumer. i always say that about everything going out of business, or and semblence of it.

No such luck. They'll be bought out, which is a blessing for the remainder of the employees.

Just a thought.

This looks like a great opertunity for Behringer to add to their product line and establish a stronger presence in the United States.

Oh yeah, I've got the Behringer Patch Bay. Talk about cheap! The 1/4" plugs fall out of the back if you tilt it. And this is brand new!

I have just been working.I haven't had much time to make it to the BBS. Recording has been slow out here also. I guess I have not had much time to scare up much business either.

Are you serious?? I was thinking about buying one of these... Have you taken a look inside the thing? Maybe you can 'adjust' the plugs manually? I've done this before with worn-out plugs...

I liked alesis' analog synth idea (andromeda?)... With custom voice-IC's in it. But I only saw it at the music messe in Frankfurt. Not that big a hit, especially not when looking at the cost (development and manufact.) of analog custom IC's...
The feel of the thing wasn't right. Didn't look like an analog synth. Not even close to those modeling synths... Don't know 'bout the sound.

Yup, I'm serious. I suppose I could take it apart & tighten the jacks, but you wouldn't think they would be worn already. It's only a month old! I guess it's the principle of the thing. You should be able to buy it, open it up, hook it up & use it. Shouldn't have to trouble shoot for an hour afterwards when a signal is missing.

Patchbay

I have the Behringer Patchbay also, but I thought it was built like a tank. I wonder if the one I have is from their old production line. The older production line's finish was a bit more dull looking than the newer gear.

Mine has a rather bright brushed aluminum look. It feels like it's well put together, but when I saw how easy the plugs fell out, I started losing confidence. I know it was rootin tootin cheap & there has to be a reason for that.

Like I said......... made in China, cheaply
Open up some other "B" stuff and you'll go "OOOoooppps - nice box, but there ain't notin in it?"
nice looking, because that sells, cheap components inside, and ultra cheap labor, so poor quality all round
