Well, pretty soon I'll start gathering my recording equipment little by little. Before my actual "studio" is up my parents wanted me to buy a cheaper alternative to the Firepod, and I came across the Alesis iO|14. It looks pretty solid, the iO|26 seems to be Alesis' answer to the Firepod.

Has anyone ever seen one of these or heard anything about them? I know they're fairly new, but I don't want to make a bad purchase.

I guess none? This isn't really a surprise since it's so new, I don't expect a lot of people to know much about it.

I was kind of interested in it. But i still haven't found any reviews yet so far. I doubt they've released the product already. :)

I think it won't be realeased for some weeks yet, but I'm unsure. I'm thinking about calling around to see when b/c I'd really like to order it.

Do you guys think I should wait for it for a little while or just go ahead and get a Phonic Helix 12 Firewire mixer?

Well the cool thing about these new Alesis IO thingies is the 8 channel ADAT IO. Means you can bypass Alesis' ADC and preamps (which I just assume will be mediocre), and they seem to be less expensive than the current F/W mixers(which don't have adat).

If you get one of these new IOs you might not(depending on the performance of the Alesis') need to get the Firepod because you could just buy an 8 channel preamp with a digi out (like the m-audio octane or focusrite octopre).

.... Oh and don't do what your parents tell you! :D

i agree, love it. seems like no leaves reviews for it tho. just got my smpro pre8 mkII with the adat expansion, works beautifully. i have 16 channels in.
