Alesis HD24

Has anyone used this yet, I have my 3 Adats, but I'm contemplating (hmmmm)

1. I can transfer with adats I have now
2. I can't transfer with HD24, but have better storage
3. like having 24 available on one unit on the HD24
4. already have infinate songs done on my 3 now
5. HD24 would save me space
6. but I'd still need to keep one, in case of mixing
elsewhere / or transfer to another studio
7. Mackie 24/96 is nice but to damn much
8. HD24 doesnt allow copy and paste, must have
ADAT EDIT (not cool Alesis)


Oh! I dont know if I should get it or not, to be honest
my studio is finished and done, now I'm tightening up my CD. But it is tempting, also that VS2480, what a great unit. Guess I'll wait to see what some people say before deciding. MISTERQCUE waddup man

yeah man, any word you get on that HD24 would be most appreciated. A cant get a solid answer from those knuckleheads at Sammy's, them guys SWEAR LORD HEAVEN and the NEW EARTH by PRO-TOOLS, I'm like whatever, most of you guys cant even play and tune without a plug-in doing half the work for you.

I read some of your posts pertaining to drum machines (ala MPC2000) I agreed with you whole heartedly man
One hundred percent, but I must admit I dont use mine much cause I've always been proficient at flipping beats
on keyboard, computer, just about any sequencer really
but I keep it, cause when I want to be (LAZY) as you said I'll drop something. Anyway this is a lovely sunday evening and I'm going for a drive, check you man, and as soon as I take some pictures of my little one plus the studio, I'll put them up in (BUILDING STUDIO) section ahhhhh---ite my brother

I didnt go onto the internet for a few days, so I dont if your post came through or not, my wife was using it though, but she probably didnt tell me.


Other than that some cat from ALESIS wrote me back explaining a few things about the HD24 (it's seems a good catch now). Funny thing is, to transfer what I have from my adats now, I need at least one adat to do it, cause I will sell my other two to kind of make up for the money to get the HD24 ya know.

Whatcha gonna do right, they keep making new shit, you get skeptical, either you do or you dont, gotta try
 
I would NOT invest in any new Alesis technology at this point.

Too Good to be true!

Musician's Friend has pushed back expected delivery dates for the Alesis HD 24 to end of July/Aug 1st. Now
I am glad that I didn't order one and tie up my money waiting!

I wonder If it will ever be available?

HD24 will ship. It was pushed back due to the Chap 11 filing. Things should be back on track in about 2 weeks or so.

From the sound of everything I might stay with my 3 adats
to many people own them to actually be obsolete in some years.

I wonder why people feel the need to have every single piece of gear that comes out, and if they do get it, they feel as if they are
doing better or should I say greater music, it all derives from the
creator, (that person behind the gear) Yes havent great gear helps, but the person behind it without the knowledge to make it WORK for them is useless.

I highlighted WORK cause some people let their equipment WORK

You're very welcome. And you are right about "equipment working people": in my HD24 testing , I pressed LOCATE and found myself waiting for it to rewind....of course it was there in an instant and it was probably wondering why I was standing around instead of recording! :p

Also I realized that singers recording on a HD machine no longer can take a breather like they used to while the 2" was rewinding!

Yeah me being a singer, I need breathers, (on the other hand)
getting to the next chord would be cool, especially when your thinking up new ones on the spot, like (that note sounds great)

REWIND boom, right there, sing it, record it,
but I dont mind hard work, I havent any complaints about my tracks so far, so I dont need to do anything faster nor quicker
just need to do it RIGHT...

I'm with you. The other great thing is setting a loop during mixdown so you can get an EQ dialed in...with the "InstaLocates", my fingers never left the EQ knobs....
