I took down the first version and replaced it with this one. I incorporated a bunch of suggestions and feel like it is getting better. There are still a couple of places I need to fine tune--piano is too loud in a couple spots and there are some parts I want to change. It may also evolve into a collaboration before its done, which would be really fun. New drums, changes aplenty in the mix and hopefully a track that is at least going in the right direction, thanks to everyone who gave me feedback.

Wow.......so much better! Very nice guitar work, the transition out of the ride back to the vocals is pretty cool. The change in the bass is dramatic and it really clears up the mix so you can hear the details. The drums sound much better also. OK, I'm playing it again...nice opening...rhythms are louder, that was needed.....strings could come up some.......nice slide.....there's that transition...a slight feedback coming out of the ride, I'd like to hear that a little bit better........ending seems a bit out of time.

Another great song crawdad. I definitely hear horns for it. I'm gonna put it in my truck and study for the next week or so and I should have something for you.

Really, really good. A great improvement on the first mix. I miss the trumpet, though!

All it really needs now are some soulful female "call and answer" harmony BVs in the choruses. And maybe a different sound for the string part, or some dissonant/resolving turns to spice it up a wee bit.

It's been a long time since I've listened to this kind of stuff, but it's an excellent track.

Looking forward to your next one.

Pretty kick-ass stuff, Crawdad.

On second listen, I swear I can hear some compressor breathing on this, and I think it's mostly the kick that's triggering it. That kick sounds like it could be your culprit, but then it could be my crappy ears. Other than that, I have fewer beefs, I think than Lt. Bob. But he likes to nitpick, doesn't he.

I think we have a winner, here. We need to give Clapton a call on this one. Clapton on guitar, chessrock on bass, Lt. Bob on the sax, Crawdad on the mic, which will most certainly be plugged in to the TTE, correct? Or should we just plug it in to the mixer inserts and apply to all tracks ?

I noticed something in the last verse... beating low steady beat panned way out but it still there ... don't know if it was intentional....

ye the kick stuck out for me too for some reason... but who cares... you are high on my "would like to meet this person" list.

What beefs are those? The only thing I mentioned was the out of time ending (on the part of the drums I think) and everything else I liked and said so. Well, maybe I phrased the feedback comment wrong........what I was saying is that I liked the feedback but maybe I wasn't clear. It's funny how with no facial expressions to guide you, it can be hard to exactely know what someone was intending to say in a post, but I thought I was complementary all the way and I hope crawdad read it that way. I also realize that chessrock was playing but I do want to make sure that I come across as intended and I try to be mostly positive. I sure don't want to be known as the nit-picking guy.

Nice tune! Im diggin the lead ditties. The drums sound nice and spread out. It skips around 1:57 but thats probably just nowhere radio.

Your guitar sound is badass.

Is that you singing? The voice is nice. What effects did you use on it...

alibish--yeah, mxmkr got me thinking about those string lines. I gotta dive in, but first I want to see what Lt. Bob wants to add.

Chessrock--Thanks man! So, its the TTE now?! Love it! I'm sitting here, slow minded, going 'what is a TTE?' then it all came in focus a few seconds later. For those who've missed this ongoing insanity, we are of course referring to the triple tube exciter, now officially TTE.

Buffalo Bob--Thank you! I love the early Mayall stuff.

Fed--yeah we had to fire cotton and break out the Alsihad! He was such a bad drummer that even his quantized drum machine grooves got off beat!

Dimensia--I used a stereo delay and a mono delay on the voice. I'm not sure there isn't a better way to go, but I kind of like that sort of ambience thing.

Well, I'm gonna let this thread rest until we get a final version completed, with LT. Bob. Also, if anybody wants to do a for real drum track, you are invited too. Thanks for all the fine suggestions and comments!

Erichenryus--i could do that, or I could mail you a CD so we could stay at 44.1 which would be better. I could also give you a version with a click track and a start tone so things could be locked together later. PM me and we can discuss our options, OK? It would be fun to have a real drummer on this, for sure!

A decidedly better version (and the 1st one was pretty darn good). Got rid of the horns, and brought the guitars up just right.

I might repeat a suggestion to bring up the strings. They're a great touch, but a bit difficult to hear in this version.

Also did you notice the very first word of the the song - "Took" - gets crushed by a guitar?

Actually, I have now decided to call it the BBTTE. The BB comes from the fact that the BBE Sonic Maximizer is now going to be inserted in the signal path as well. You know. For those times when you just need more excitement in your life.

You're officially listed as the designer, and I am hailing you as the "Stephen Paul of Triple-Tube Exciters." We're going to start small. Maybe 100,000 units. I'm holding off on the full-page magazine ads, since I found a more economical means to get the word out. See? :
