I'd like to apologize for my rant above, I just don't want to see a band be disappointed in the final product, even though they only spent $75. I am all for the kid going out and trying to record bands, but he should be prepared for quite a learning curve.

OnTheBlackRock - Good luck with everything and I hope I didn't come across as a jerk!
BTW- When I was 14/15, all I had was a Radio Shack mic and a Yamaha MT100 4-track cassette deck (and a few casio keyboards!)

So far...

Hey I've recorded a bunch of stuff while I'm tweaking the pro tools and i think I've finally come up with the final product. It's just an acustic song but it's pretty good in my mind and I will post it tomorrow so check back and you'll be able to hear it! :) hopefully you guys have DSL or something because if you have dial up it'll take forever... and if you still think i don't know what I'm doing and that the recording sucks then I wont charge the 75 bucks to the band i'm gonna record this week.

P.S. Blue Bear sound you should really stick with recording because if you can't figure out what a "rent" is then you don't got alot of common sense. so how did you connect all your stuff up if you don't have enough brains to figure that one out, haha just giving you a hard time back. all in good fun.
Everyone else listen to my recording before you post up I don't know what I'm doing because I'm pretty proud of it and think it sound damn good :)

What the hell is a "rent"????

Blue,

That's funny as hell. My 24 y.o. cousin talks like that too. She totally confuses me sometimes. And I'm only 30. So you're not the only lost, my friend.

Isn't that what all the Eighties music was recorded with? :D

HEY NOW!!!!! There was still a few of us burned out hippies playin guitars back then!

I hate when my rents buy shit I can't use.

Once when I told my rents I wanted to give flying lessons, they bought me a learjet, then some dope told me I had to know how to fly first.

So then I told my rents I wanted to teach swimming.

After that boy died in our new pool, they sold it.

Now I'm just sticking to easy stuff like recording local rock bands & fanatical neo Nazi rappers.

I'm also thinking of giving driving lessons, but my rents are making me wait until I have a license of my own.

I hate my rents.

LOL Ok, Ok... :D My "rents" told me to say it or they wouldn't by me a Alesis 3630.

When I was his a yungin........"rent" was something you had to pay to keep the landlord from throwin your shit in the street.

bd

Yep, and now I have to pay the 'gage to keep the bank from throwing our sh*t in the street :)

I sometimes refer to the parents as "parentals", which is a throwback to the old Coneheads SNL skit (parental units)

Now now guys...

Kids need room to expand their horizons... they need to be able to 'make their own reality' and not be held down to the confines of 'the old school world'... rules, regulations, respect, knowledge, book learning, grades, etc... those are all things of the past... studies have shown that those things seem to hinder a child's ability to get promoted to the next grade... how dare we require them to form complete sentences and spell out whole words :)

We cut them alllll this slack and they STILL forget to take the freakin' pickles off of my Whooper with cheese :)

Elvis,
If it weren't so true, it would be a lot funnier! I'm still LMAO.

I tell you what OnTheBlackRock, you're a fortunate young fellow and I wish you the best of luck.

You should ignore the people here who are giving you sh*t...

They've forgotten that they were once ambitious and are jealous of the gear you've acquired.

I'm curious to hear this acoustic demo you've done so get it posted.... maybe it'll shut some people up... who knows.

Re: Song I Recorded

Where is the link? Sorry I'm giving you a hard time, but I do want to hear what you recorded.

Alright well here it is... You all are thinking I can't record worth crap and stuff well after this hopefully it'll prove you wrong... I think it's pretty good considering I had no idea how to work the pro tools and everything just a couple days ago... any ways here it is.

You wouldn't happen to have an alias like "AbeLowsmoker" would you?

Well looky there, he deleted his post. Anyway, I have it commented above if anyone is interested.

Dude, sell some of the shit you don't have room for and get some mics.

You know I have to admit... I'm not nearly as much of a stickler about how great someone's preamp is etc as some of the others around here... I firmly believe that the majority of what makes a project sound good or sound bad is in the hands of how capable the engineer is and how talented the players are. I've heard some AWESOME stuff recorded on total crap equipment... and likewise have heard some things come out of some TOP billed studios that sounded horrendous.

I'm anxious to hear what BlackRock can do with what he's got...

One of my favorite 'underground' albums was done by a guy named Will Owsley out of Nashville. Will recorded his first solo album 100% on his own... he used some nice stuff, but he also used some pretty lame stuff... like Mackie preamps from a 24x8 for all the toms on the drum set etc... (I can say this because I use a Mackie :))

Anyhow... long story short... he was nominated when the album came out (and may have even won) for best independent engineer for his project.

If any of you want to hear some of my stuff... go to

All 13 tracks at the top of the page were cut and mixed on my cheapo equipment.

I have heard every one of those songs and love your music! I have been waiting for months and months for the CD to go on sale so I don't have to listen to these MP3's anymore. :D You were also gonna redo some of the mixes.. waiting.... :D

Scott...

Well... good news... the CD (new artwork from what's on the web site) goes on sale NEXT MONTH!

We also got picked up for not one, but TWO compilation CD's.

One will be out of the Midwest and is called "Unsung Hereos"... it should be available in Border's Books, Best Buy etc

The other is the Grassroots Music compilation disc and will be going out to media centers etc.

The actual CD will be out during Grassroots July/August/September release time... we don't have the official date yet.... but it will be available through retailers, online and at places like Amazon.com etc.

I can't wait!
