First of all this site is great!!! It has been a huge help.

Now I have to ask you guys what Kind of monitors would you recommend to me to buy? Here's what I have pretty much settled on getting as of right now, for starters.....

Either:

Mackie HR824, or MAudioBX8

Now, I am totally a noob here...so if it helps any....

I planned on getting the Mackie HD 24/96...as for the mixing board, well...I had originally thought I was going to look at the Mackie analog mixers...but I hear all sorts of different opinions on this site about that...so I am not sure yet.

One thing to mention...I am recording a very heavy, progressive type of music...I play a seven string almost exclusively, and at times I am in low A....if I accomplish nothing else, I want to try to achieve clarity in the low end....so having monitors that will allow me to fine tune that frequency range is a must for me. Don't want muddy sound....

Once again, this site and all the folks who have bothered to help me...you guys are the best...this has been a real learning experience for me.

Thanks!

P.S.: If anyone has a better idea on monitors for me, I would appreciate any opinions. Looks like I can get the MackieHr824's for abot $600 a piece...really hope I don't have to go higher than that!:)

Get the 824's man. I got 'em and I love 'em.
600 each is what I paid for 'em.

Good luck bro!

Take 'er easy,....

The Bx's are getting good reviews. I have a set of the 824's and would'nt trade em for much else in the same category.

You might want to consider the BX8 setup with the matching sub... Keep that low end clean...

It's no secret around here that I'm a big fan of the BX8's - I know a lot of people metion that they're a bit anemic in the lows... I agreed at first - Then I realized that one of the settings on the tweak panel is essentially backward from what you would think...

Once those puppies break in... I don't even want to mention some of the monitors they went up against in a blind shoot-out...
