Adat EDIT as a HDR?

Is anyone successfully using their PCR card with the supplied Emagic program as a HDR? When I go into record, I get an audio drop out along with a slight delay before recording begins and the tracks I am monitoring drop out as well. After a split second the audio comes back. This is unacceptable in a studio setting. I have the updated drivers and Adat Edit 2.0 which has supposedly zero latency monitoring, which while it may be true, the delay and drop out when punching it and out are the problem.
Thanks for any responces.

No, chalk it up to experience and move on down the road to a better tomorrow. I have both and never use them anymore.

Thanks, that's what I thought. It's sad that their marketing isn't as up front as they could be. I own quite a bit of Alesis equipment and thought it would preform as decent as the rest has.

Not knowing when to quit, I pulled out my old Cakewalk Pro 8 and tried to record with the PCR card instead of the ADAT EDIT program. Other than not being able to monitor the recording track off of the computer ala "tape return", I tried just monitoring the input off my DA7 instead before going into the computer. It seems to work OK. The playback tracks seem to work fine.
I had tried it with the SONAR demo and as I remember, I wasn't happy with the results... but that was a long time ago and I don't remember what it was that I didn't like.
Why can an old off the shelf program work, but the Emagic program written expressly for the card be useless?

Why ask why? LOL

Live and learn, which was stated earlier. It is a VERY good idea to check out some "real life" reviews of ANY soundcard and/or software you are considering purchase of.

For a good laugh, you can follow my MANY exploits in trying to make an Alesis PCR card work for it's INTENDED PURPOSE or flying tracks back and forth between ADAT's for editing that I have posted in this forum. You will have to go almost a year back to find the many posts I did concerning this card, and my attempt to configure a computer that would do the job. EVERYTHING failed. I did EVERYTHING Alesis asked of me to correct the problem. But like MANY other people, everything failed. That card is just not meant to be.

The final straw came when I purchased 2X- Ultra Wide 2 SCSI drives and Adaptec controller card because THAT is what Alesis said I would need to transfer a whole song. $1000 later and this no reliable transfer. Well, at least I have some great LVD SCSI drives now...... I even had to run sucky Windows 98!!! Yikes!!! They claimed that they wouldn't write a NT4 driver for the card because "2000 is coming out soon, so we will write a driver for it". Well, 2000 has been out how long? Any word on a 2k driver? Har har har!!! When a cockroach is voted in president it may happen!

I would say your best bet is to pursue getting your money back. If not, well, live and learn......It sucks being taken by Alesis. That card should have been off the market long ago, but they seem to like stealing your money these days.
