Plastic film is NOT good, you want a material that is porous, like thin polyester-cotton or burlap.

In fact, that's what i thought too.

But it seems to do better with a thin film. Here is Ethan Winer about wrapping with thin plastic wraps " For bass traps, adding a thin plastic wrap is generally a Good Thing. Bass goes through the plastic, and in fact the plastic helps to increase absorption if it's glued to the fiberglass. This also reduces mid/high frequency absorption which can be useful too. But for mid/high absorbers, you definitely don't want plastic. However, burlap and other similar "breathable" fabrics are fine, and the weave will keep the fibers in place and not let them get out into the air."

OK, so if you are not looking for broadband absorption, just bass, it's fine.

The issue here would be the small room. I would assume that reflection back into the small space is not a good idea. The plastic has affects to absorption, but in this little room? Not a good idea I would guess. Though, anything is better than nothing.

I have a scratch guitar recording/storage room with 10 bags of pink fluffy stacked in the corners. Definitely sounds better in there with them than without. Not pretty or something I would write about. Oh shiz, I just did... :)
