Acoustic Cover: The Used - Earthquake

Not a bad song but the vox do need some work. I'm not a singer by no means so don't take it personally. Maybe you can redo the vox?

im no singer either, hence shoddy vocals. and i dont have an autotune plugin

its 2 years old, and i havent gotten any better at singing in the last 2 years :P
 
I like the recording, playing, etc. The vocal sounds good....it's the words and phrasing that throw me. Rythmic and literary quirkages in the vocal are important, but the wordplay and rythms leave little to cling to...too spaz....It's the only thing hanging up, and doesn't meet the standards of the rest of the tune...which is real good. IMHO.

Oh...nevermind...it's a cover!
 
yeah i totally agree with you 100%

see im south african, and we have a pretty flat accent, which to me doesnt always sound great when in song... (like in the part "...murdered our love", i sound like a spaz)

but yeah, just couldnt bring myself to sing in an american accent, just felt stupid haha

Thing with the american accent, the enunciation is much better than ours (especially in song)

but yeah, i totally get you
 
I dunno...I thought this came out really well.

I didn't get the spaz vibe at all and ironically, the part leading up to "murdered our love" was perhaps my favorite. After reading the comments, I was expecting some heavy accent, but it's not really there. Come to think of it, I'm having trouble thinking of any recording I've ever heard where the singer had an overtly south african accent...?

I'm not familiar with the original and don't have the best pitch myself, so perhaps I'm not holding you to too high of a standard, but I thought it sounded very nice. Recording sounds fine although there aren't a ton of elements going on.

it was the first time, and only time come to think of it haha, that i recorded acoustic guitar. didnt really know what i was doing with mic positions or signal processing n stuff

what do you guys think of the acoustic tone etc?
 
Acoustic is great. Real jangle...no midmud. Is that a Taylor G series koa??
