i have roughly 1000 dollars to spend on recording gear. as of right now, the only thing ive really been looking at is the ART ProVLA preamp. what do u guys recommend for an interface, as well as compressor? also, do u think the ART Pro VLA is a good choice? lastly, am i going to need a mixer or something else? ive seen the firewire consoles and the USB 2.0 ones, and im not sure which way to go, if the board will sound better then buying a seperate interface?

any suggestions?

also...what is a good vox mic?

i apologize if this is all posted in the wrong section

You need to read and research, your questions are too broad. We all record using different mediums. Some prefer software, some outboard gear, some digtal realm and some analog. And a great many use combinations of all.

The Pro VLA is not a Preamp, it is a Leveling Amplifier (aka Compressor). Definitely do some more research before purchasing anything.
