I've been using acid pro for years now. When i bought my new computer, acid worked fine. Now after 2 years, acid pro will freeze after i record about 10-15 takes then i have to reopen it. It will freeze when building peaks. Has this happened to anyone else?

Do you

- use a seperate hard drive for audio?

- defrag your hard drive on a regular basis?

- shut down any background apps that may be interfering with Acid?

I use a seperate hard drive and defrag. I don't know if any background apps are interfering with acid because something happened to my taskmanager. I think if i had that, i would be able to see what all is going on when acid freezes.

Hmm, strange. Are you using the same version you had on your old computer?

Before, i used my friends computer. I had the same version but his computer was a compaq. I got a emachines.

I think there might be a conflict between my software and my soundcard,m-audio audiophile 2496. When i try to use asio the cursor moves like the audio is playing but all i hear is continuous stuttering. I'm planning on getting a brand new computer soon so hopefully i won't go through this again.

I use the wmd drivers now. They work fine i just wish i had the quickness associated with asio. I could get the quickness with a ram upgrade but my Emachines can't be upgraded with more ram. That's why i need a "real" computer.

I don't know much about Emachines ohher than they are inexpensive. Could be incompatablilty with the chipset, I guess.

I've noticed that I need to reinstall windows every year or so because it seems like it takes longer and longer for it to do anything. Your problem may be solved by reinstalling the OS.

If you use the same computer to surf the internet you could have several spywares or dialers etc. that your current security didn't catch or was on before you installed the security. If others use your computer to surf the net you may not be aware of them clicking a popup or two. It happened to me... finally got it clean after getting help from security experts.
