Acid music 3.0 user/question

I use ACID 3.0 as my primary music recording/loop software, and i have a questiona bout it, is there a way to record multiple tracks at one time . ie having your lead/tenor/baritone record at the same time, but it will be on seperate tracks for editing purposes ect.
 
I'm pretty sure that with ACID you only get a single stereo track at one time. So if you can send one singer to the L and the other to the R, you could do it. Then you could split it to two mono tracks and pan them however you want.

Otherwise, you'll have to overdub, or use multitrack software like SONAR...

The answer (as previously stated by AlChuck) is no. You will not be able to record simultaneous multiple tracks at onr time.

You might want to take a look at Vegas Video.

thank you! ....today ,however, i was looking and the sonic foundry sight, and i saw a soundforge program ....and i was wondering for recording ..would soundforge be a better option
 
Sound Forge is a two-track editor only, it does not record multiple tracks at all. At least with ACID you can overdub multiple tracks. With Sound Forge all you could do would be to blend files together by pasting one to the other additively.
 
ooh okay....i'll have to go look at that again..i think it was called "sound forge studio 6.0"..something like that...hmm interesting thank you
 
the reason i was lookin into the sound forge studio software was for its reverb/eq support...so in theory couldn't i record all on acid (the software ..not the drug :>)) save it and then put it over the sound forge studio program..and then mix with which reverb/eq i'd want. or would that not do a good enough job
 
Well, first of all ACID comes with a "free" copy of Sound Forge Studio... so you don't have to buy it.

Secondly, ACID lets you use DirectX or VST plug-ins, so you can apply reverb right in ACID's interface (I'm pretty sure that ACID comes with the usual Sonic Foundry DirectX effects). It's got software effects sends and returns so you can dial in just what you want and use graphical envelopes on the track to change parameters as the track progresses. If you don't like Sonic Foundry's reverb plugs, there are many third-party ones that work great.

Thirdly, with ACID or Sound Forge, you are still limited to at best one stereo track with two useable parts separated by the panning trick I described earlier.

You will probably be better off using Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video. You can use Vegas for your audio needs. Plus, it will let you record multiple tracks simultaneously. ;)

You should be able to download a demo version of the program from their site.

okay...but where do i find this copy of sound forge studio?? i've never noticed it.

secondly, on acid when i try to use direct X plugins...such as reverb it tells me that i have to "upgrade" to unlock the features. I am running on the full version of 3.0 however

when you talk about one track? what do u mean...maybe i'm thinking wrong, but just last night i had 6 tracks going. Hope i'm not sounding stupid , maybe i'm not on the same page

Perhaps when you installed ACID you did not install Sound Forge XP? Or perhaps you are talking about ACID Music or one of the other "lite" versions and not ACID Pro.

Bingo! (Which also explains the other question above).

By "full version," what exactly do you mean? Like I said, there was the free version (ACID Express), and several "lite versions" (ACID Music and several versions like ACID Rock, ACID Hip-hop, etc.)

In the Help menu, clcik on About ACID and tell us what it says.

If you really do have ACID 3 Pro, your installation of it thinks you don't for some reason.

I mean that when you hit Record so that you can record something into a track (as opposed to loading a loop file in a track). You can only record one at a time -- either a stereo track or a mono track. Which is what your original question was in the first place, wasn't it?

Of course you can have multiple tracks of loops and pre-recorded WAV files -- the limitation here is that you can't record more than one track into your project at a single pass.

oh and i only have acid music 3.0 ..so must be a lite version

Cool. That is what AlChuck and I were trying to tell you since your first post in this thread. ;)

If you want to record (simultaneously) more that one stereo track at a time (per pass). Then you will need to purchase a multitrack recording program. I suggested Vegas Video, because the layout and short-cut keys are similiar to Acid Pro.

Acid Pro comes with Vegas LE, I think. You get 8 tracks to work with, IIRC...
