I just bought me Dynacord tape echo mini, I like it very much. Just wondered if there is some forum about tape echos, is there? Does anybody know? Or is this the place?

So, would some of you know where to get schematics for my Dynacord echocord mini, like easy gif-picture on the net? My problem is that I´m soldering some adapters for input and output, and don´t exactly know the best way to do this. Well, even better would be if someone told me the answer ´cause I´m not so good at reading schematics.
I already got my signal through echocord to my guitar amp, and that´s cool. But the input connections on the front of the machine are 5-pin dins and it´s only using three pins (pins 1,2 and 3). So, I soldered guitar cable to the din connector using pins 1 and 3, and it worked well. But as I looked inside the echocord I saw also pin 2 is connected to somewhere, thought I didn´t use it at all. So where is it leading, what does it do, and could it make my signal level better somehow if I used it? These old machines are always noisy, so it would be the best to get signal levels as high as possible.
Sorry my pour english, there must be an easier way to explain my point here. If you could help me I´d be very happy.

Well, if it were mine and it is as you describe, I would replace the five-pin DIN jacks with three-pin XLR jacks.
After you have replaced them, use a DI box to get your guitar signal to the box. You obviously have a balanced in/out effect but with a European configuration using the DIN jacks.
That is an assumption. I have heard of other equipment destined for Europe or built in Europe having these jacks.
At any rate it is a balanced connection. In addition, it could possibly be a +4 input instead of a -10. I don't have any other info on this. If you got decent sound out of it the way you wired it, it probably is a -10 input.

First of all it´s at least 20 years old I think, and made in germany. Were there balanced ins/outs back then. Oh bytheway, I connected those two pins of the input-Din, the ground and the "mystery"-one, and now I think it´s ok. Big amount of noise went away.
Another clue is that there are these symbols on the output (wich is also 3-pin as I said earlier) that says that pin1=1V, pin2=ground and pin3=100mV, does this tell you something. And which one should I use for my guitar amp, 1V or 100mV output?
Now I tried to use 100mV output and sticked it into my amps low-input, is there some better solution. I noticed that with this combination I can hardly open up my amps volume cause it´s so loud. So I thought that the other way around it would be even louder.
After all, it´s pretty good now, I only thinking about this "1V 100mV"- choice now.
Anyway many thank´s for your help Sennheiser.

I think the problem with the 1V output of the device is that the level is too high for a guitar amp input.
The 100mv would be the lower of the two, and I wouldn't even attempt the 1V output. That's near or above speaker level input.. (Or output, depending which device you are refering to.)
What I believe you have there with the 100mv output is about right for a guitar amp input. I'm looking at it this way: (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
.316V or 316mv is roughly -10db at 0VU. So you have about a third of this feeding your amp. I can't calculate what that signal will be in db. I can't remember if it is a logrithmic or linear calculation.
If you have a gain control on your amp, turn this down to "0" and slowly increase it until you get a decent signal. if you don't have this feature, you may need a pad or an attenuator to use the tape echo. I would think that .1V would be compatible with the input of your amp, but I just don't know.
Post this over on the "Rack" forum, or on the "Newbie" forum and see if you can get a definite answer.

You see I´m planning to make a bypass switch for my echocord, and I think there´s going to be some trouble matching these two signals together, straight signal from my stompBoxes with the signal from my echocord.
