CD-ROM Connection

Since there is no connection directly from my PC's CD-ROM to the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96, I propose to buy a cable with an SPDIF plug on one end to connect to my CD-ROM's (or basic sound card's) headphone jack.

I am looking for confirmation that this is the right approach before I proceed.

I am not sure what it is your trying to acheive. You can't connect SPDIF into a headphone jack and expect to get digital. Please clarify why you are trying to do whatever it is you are trying to do. :)

Elle's right.

Note that if you use the latest version of Winamp or of Miscosoft's Windows Media Player, you can play the audio CDs as if they were data CDs -- that is, read them straight off the drive and play them from the WAV player device, without requiring any cable.

i do it

I own the direct pro and use windows meida player, winamp etc to play my audio cd's works fine.

blue sky - u can download a CDFS.vxd file which is essentially an alternative cd-rom driver that allows u to access tracks on a cd as wav files. go to the direct pro technical support page for the link. it works.
