You seem to keep deluding the newbies here into believing home/semi-pro equipment can prolduce pro-level recordings.

Success in music/recording doesn't come to everyone, regardless. It is and always has been a small percentage that has what it takes. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

If you had come here asking for help in the first place rather than just spewing, we would have been glad to help you get the best out of what you are/were working with.

Yes. And then, only small percentage of those who have what it takes actually use what they have persistently to create what can be given in exchange to what can be taken and then only a percentage of those ones actually do take it. Some people call it "success". :D

Agreed. Honestly, I've heard more "pro" sounding productions from an old TEAC 3340S then from anything put out today and in recent memory. I define a "professional sound" mostly by the quality of the musicianship, recording and combining or layering of sounds in such a way that it makes the listenner sit back and say: "Wow! Now that sounds professional!".

As for the built quality of semi vs pro gear then the biggest benefit, as it was already pointed out, is that the pro designated equipment was built to last through the rigors of continued operation without even flinching. The electronics and components are designed to withstand round the clock usage and thus must be of appropriate high caliber quality. Yes it could be argued that pro gear sounds better but you'd have to be Sir George Martin using the best musicians and rooms available to fully realize the benefits of such gear. The VAST majority of recordists, imho, would be immensely happy with results obtained using a TASCAM or FOSTEX.
