Hi all. I'm still using my ol' A-3340S r2r and have develped a problem. I looked all over the board for help on this but couldn't find any. What the problem is, is I can hear the tape when I rewind it. I pushed the que switch down far as it would go and still there. I have no repair manul for this (yet) and was wondering what causes this ? I have new tape ( with a one pass recording on it ) and cleaned the heads and the whole work. Pinch roller, capstain, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thx. Steven

you can hear it at playback levels or just hear it softly if you crank the gain?
I haven't used my 3340 in years but it seems to me that I could slightly hear the tape on RW and FF.

The analog gurus will be along soon to tell you what to do and that I'm an idiot.
I'm just marking the thread 'cause I wanna see the answers.

Thx LT. As you say, I can slightly hear it on RW and FF. I never heard it until I put the headphones on so maybe it's ok. Thx again.

It's normal to hear slight sound when in REW / FF. The more important a question would be... Is the tape actually touching any of the three heads, when in REW / FF? If not, don't worry about it.
